    • A stand (1) for securing a two-wheeled vehicle, especially a motocross motorcycle (2). The stand includes a base part (3) to be positioned on a surface (18), a lifting member (4) being vertically displaceable in relation to the base part (3) between a lowered position and a raised position and having a supporting surface (5) adapted to abut a downwardly facing surface of the vehicle. The stand is provided with at least one retaining member (6) having a downwardly facing contact face (7) adapted to engage an upwardly facing surface (8) of the vehicle and to secure the vehicle jointly with the lifting member in the raised position thereof. The retaining member (6) is mounted on a holding member (9) being mounted on the base part (3) and projecting upwardly there-from such that the vehicle (2) is clamped between the retaining member (6) and the lifting member (4), when said lifting member is moved to its raised position.

    • A system for adjusting the position of a load supported on a conveyor cart includes a driven lift mechanism for controlling height and a turntable for controlling rotational orientation. The cart may, alternately or in addition to the above mechanisms, include a gimbal mechanism for rotational adjustment about multiple axes. A processor on the cart provides actuation and control of the mechanisms. An ID card reader on the cart senses ID tags for determining when the cart is adjacent particular locations. Data representing desired load position at the locations is stored either in a memory device or by the ID tag for relay to the processor on the cart via the ID tag reader. A system level controller provides a centralized storage location for desired load position data for communication to a plurality of conveyor carts through a communication link that includes radio frequency modems.

    • A screw-type lift having a ratchet lifting nut assembly providing for the safe lowering of a load while preventing additional lifting of the load upon failure of a lifting nut is disclosed. The ratchet lifting nut assembly includes a lifting nut and an auxiliary nut threadably engaging a lifting screw and a wear gap separating the lifting nut from the auxiliary nut. A ratchet portion is supported on the auxiliary nut and is aligned for engagement with a pawl supported on the lifting nut. During a normal mode of operation, the lifting nut supports the entire weight of a load and the ratchet portion and pawl cooperate to restrain rotational movement of the auxiliary nut relative to the lifting nut. A failure mode of operation is defined when the lifting nut is excessively worn in that it can no longer safely support the load. In this mode, the wear gap is eliminated wherein the auxiliary nut is supported on the lifting nut and the load is supported solely by the auxiliary nut. The ratchet portion and the pawl cooperate to restrain rotational movement of the auxiliary nut relative to the lifting nut in a first direction permitting the lowering of the load, while the auxiliary nut is permitted to rotate relative to the lifting nut in a second direction preventing the raising of the load. Therefore, when the lifting nut fails, the load may be safely lowered but the ratchet lifting nut assembly will prevent any further lifting of the load.
