摘要： The present invention is directed to a novel group of amino acid-based poly(ester urea)s (PEUs) for use in biodegradable adhesive and related methods for their making and use. These novel amino acid-based PEUs have a wide variation in mechanical properties and degradation behavior that can be tuned by varying the amino acids and polyols used to form the polyester monomers that form the PEUs. Importantly, these novel PEUs have been shown to be non-toxic in vitro and in vivo and may be suitable to a wide variety of biomedical and other uses. In some embodiments, the adhesive properties of these degradable amino acid-based poly(ester urea) adhesives has been further improved by the incorporation of controlled amounts of catechol functional groups into the side chains of the PEU via post-polymerization functionalization chemistry.

摘要： Novel elastomeric compositions which contain at least one thermoplastic elastomer and at least one phase change solvent and at least one processing oil. The presence of particular processing oils, e.g., poly(alphaolefins), provide a means to increase mechanical properties compared to commercially available mineral oils. The oils of the present invention are chosen as to minimize the depression of glass transition temperature of the hard-block of the thermoplastic elastomer. The phase change behavior of these materials produce elastomeric compositions that exhibit lowered viscosity and lowered processing temperature without substantially compromising the mechanical properties of the elastomeric composition.

摘要： The present invention provides a curable coating composition that includes at least three components. The coating composition includes a component (a) having at least one carbamate group or urea group and having a lactone or hydroxy carboxylic acid moiety. The second component (b) of the coating composition is one or more of three materials. First, the second component can be a polymer resin (b)(1) comprising active hydrogen-containing functional groups reactive with the third component(c). Secondly, the second component can be a compound (b)(2) having at least one carbamate group or terminal urea group according to the invention and having at least two linking groups that are urethane or urea. Finally, the second component can be a compound (b)(3) having at least two groups selected from carbamate groups, terminal urea groups, or combinations of the two and at least four urethane or urea linking groups. The third component of the coating composition is a curing agent that is reactive with the first two components. Preparation of coated articles using the compositions of the invention is also disclosed.

The aminourethanes can be reaction products of (i) oligomeric or polymeric compounds which contain at least one, preferably two or more terminal 2-oxo-1,3-dioxolane groups (cyclic carbonate groups), and (ii) amines containing at least one primary, preferably two or more primary and, if desired, also secondary and tertiary amino groups. The ratios of equivalents of C1):C2) typically is from 1:1 to 1:10, preferably from 1:1.05 to 1:5 and particularly preferably from 1:1.1 to 1:2, and the end product preferably contains one or more free primary amino groups. 摘要： A flexible, aminoplast-curable film-forming composition and a process for preparing multi-layered coated articles coated with a pigmented or colored base coat and a transparent or clear topcoat are disclosed. A pigmented or colored base coat is first applied to a substrate followed by the application of a transparent topcoat to the base coat. The transparent topcoat composition is a flexible, curable film-forming composition comprising (i) a polyether polymer containing a plurality of terminal or pendant carbamate groups of the structure: ##STR1## (ii) a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyester polymer, a polyurethane polymer, an acrylic polymer, and mixtures thereof wherein each polymer contains a plurality of terminal or pendant carbamate groups of the structure depicted above; and (iii) an aminoplast crosslinking agent. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the film-forming composition contains a polyester polymer derived from a cycloaliphatic acid or anhydride. The topcoat composition provides a flexible composite coating with improved acid etch resistance, making the composite coating particularly useful as a topcoat for plastic automotive parts.
