摘要： The length of a sewing machine stitch is adjustable by varying the effective length of a first bar of a multi-bar linkage operably secured to a feed dog of the sewing machine. The effective length of the first bar is defined between an anchor point and a pivot point, with the pivot point being secured to a slider configured for movement along the length of the first bar. The slider comprises a pinion gear configured to engage a gear rack of the first bar, such that rotation of the pinion gear causes movement of the slider and the pivot point relative to the anchor point. Moreover, to accommodate the adjustable stitch length, the sewing machine additionally comprises an adjustable looper thread eyelet configured to adjust the length of the looper thread path to accommodate increased tension or slack in the looper thread due to the changed stitch length.

The lower thread ending region detection apparatus comprises: light control unit, which contacts a part of lower thread wound on a thread bobbin and activates or inactivates at least one of the functions of emitting light, reflecting light, passing light and blocking light, due to the effect of the physical movement force generated depending on whether the lower thread of the ending region is unwound; light receiving unit, which receives the light transferred out by the light control unit and outputs a detection signal; and control and notification unit, which analyzes the detection signal output from the light receiving unit to determine whether the lower thread has reached the ending region and outputs the result to the user.

The lower thread guiding unit includes a lower thread guiding part which, at one of the two positions, acts on the lower thread to guide a lower thread drawing position to a center of a needle amplitude. A lower thread releasing element, at the other of the two positions, cooperates with the lower thread guiding unit to release the lower thread engaged with the lower thread guiding part.

摘要： A rotary loop taker which includes a replaceable loop seizing point mounted on a substantially annular frame, for use in a lock-stitch sewing machine. The loop seizing point has a supporting lug that extends downwardly from immediately behind the base portion of the tapered forward end of the loop seizing point. The supporting lug forms a smoothly curved junction with the base portion of the tapered forward end of the loop seizing point. The rearwardmost position on the smoothly curved junction to which said needle thread loop is pulled by the rotating loop taker lies a first distance from the nearest point on the crack formed by the supporting lug and the wall of the annular frame against which the lug abuts that is sufficient to produce a second distance measured normal to the taut needle thread loop that will avoid snagging the needle thread in the crack just referred to during operation of the sewing machine. The supporting lug has a continuation portion below the smoothly curved junction that is smoothly shaped to avoid letting any needle thread loop that may move downward as it falls slack from the tapered forward end base portion during normal operation of the sewing machine pass either partly or entirely beneath the lug.

摘要： A quilting machine employs bobbin holders which support bobbins each having a conical lower portion ending in a point. A plurality of hooks are driven in an eliptical path to engage and pull down a loop of thread formed by insertion of a needle through a needle plate and the partial withdrawal thereof. The hooks keep the loop open and pull it down so that it passes over the pointed lower end of the bobbin. In order to facilitate engagement of the loop over the bobbin, the bobbins are maintained in sloped fashion. A thread take-up mechanism pulls up the loop of thread with one of the strands of the loop passing behind the bobbin between the bobbin and the bobbin holder to form a lock stitch.

摘要： A horizontal axis loop taker is actuated by a loop taker shaft supported in an eccentric opening in a rotatable bearing located immediately adjacent the loop taker. In a first position of the rotatable bearing, a sewing needle may extend through an orifice in a throat plate to cooperate with the loop taker in the formation of stitches. In a second position of the rotatable bearing achieved by rotating the bearing in a direction to locate the eccentric opening, and thereby the loop taker, further from the throat plate, the sewing needle will not cooperate with the loop taker. The increased clearance thus provided between the loop taker and throat plate will more readily accommodate thread severing devices.
