    • According to the invention, a coin processing system comprises a coin verifier (2) and a ring-shaped coin magazine (1), in particular a coin magazine (1) which forms an annulus. The coin magazine (1) comprises a coin input (4) fed by the coin verifier (2), a plurality of coin supports (7.1 . . . 7.5) for separately storing a plurality of coins (12.1 . . . 12.3) and a coin output (15). The coin processing system is further characterised in that the coin verifier (2) is at least partly situated within the cavity (13) defined by the ring-shaped coin magazine (1). Further a method for feeding a ring-shaped coin magazine (1) is presented, whereas the coin magazine (1) defines a cavity (13). In particular a method for feeding a coin magazine (1) which forms an annulus is disclosed, wherein the coin magazine (1) comprises a coin input (4) fed by a coin verifier (2), a plurality of coin supports (7.1 . . . 7.5) for separately storing a plurality of coins (12.1 . . . 12.3) and a coin output (15). The method is characterised in that a coin (12.1 . . . 12.3) being released from the coin verifier (2) is directly fed into the magazine (1) from the cavity (13) being defined by the ring-shaped magazine (1) in a first radially outward pointing direction. Further the coin (12.1 . . . 12.3) is stored within the magazine (1) and eventually the coin (12.1 . . . 12.3) is released from the magazine (1) in a second radially outward pointing direction.

    • A plate for attachment to an interior side of the housing of a vending machine to overlie the bill validator. The plate including a mask portion protruding to an exterior of the housing for covering a mouth portion of the bill validator exposed to the public. The mask portion includes an entrance aligned with a bill slot in the mouth portion of the bill validator. A bill passageway defined by a first guide flange and a second guide flange is disposed between the bill slot and the entrance for directing bills into an out of the bill validator. The guide flanges terminate in the mouth portion of the bill validator so that bills may reliably pass from the entrance through the bill passageway into the bill slot, and from the bill slot outwardly through the bill passageway to the entrance during bill rejection.

    • A coin mechanism for a bulk vendor or the like is provided with a magnetic discriminating device, for selectively accepting coins having a magnetic component and rejecting coins or slugs which have no magnetic component. A magnet is lodged in the coin conveyor flush with the seating surface for a coin, and a resilient urging member such as a spring projects above the seating surface. The attractive force of the magnet on a coin having a magnetic component is greater than the repelling force of the spring, so a coin having a magnetic component is retained in the coin carrier while a coin or slug having no magnetic component is unseated by the spring and ejected into a coin rejection chute.

    • A gate assembly for a coin selecting and separating device in which a first gate has a pin inserted into a first hinge socket on a main plate and another pin aligned with but operatively disconnected from the first hinge socket in an open position of the gate relative to the main plate. A key on the first gate precludes angular movement of the first gate from the open position. A second gate includes a pin disposed in a second hinge socket on the first gate. The first and second gates are shiftable as a unit to operatively disengage the key and to insert the aligned pin of the first gate into the first hinge socket for hingedly connecting the first gate for angular movement of the gates to a closed position relative to the main plate. A stop member on the second gate precludes angular movement of the second gate from an open position relative to the main plate until the first gate is hingedly connected. An abutment is provided on the main plate that engages the second gate to preclude removal of the second gate pin from its associated second hinge socket when the first gate is hingedly connected. The stop member of the second gate engages the main plate when the second gate is moved from its open position to preclude shifting of the first and second gates as a unit to disconnect the first gate hingedly from the first hinge socket.
