    • A head suspension assembly for a disk drive includes a load beam extending from a load beam supported end to a load beam distal end, and a laminated flexure supported by the load beam. The laminated flexure includes a structural layer having a head mounting tongue, a conductive layer having a plurality of patterned traces, and a dielectric layer between the structural layer and the conductive layer. The structural layer of the laminated flexure includes a distal limiter that has a first limiter arm and a second limiter arm adjoining at a distal apex. The distal apex is disposed closer to the load beam distal end than is the head mounting tongue. Each of the first and second limiter arms splits into a plurality of branches.

    • A magnetic head is controlled more stably when retracted from above a magnetic disk. When a permanent magnet member 10 having a protrusion projecting from the longer periphery to a side opposite to the center of a fan is mounted on a yoke 15, the end part P side where the sum of thicknesses (P1+P2) is the largest, i.e., the upper face side of a magnet matrix 111 on the protrusion side, is higher than the upper face side of the magnet matrix in the other area. Therefore, since the magnet matrix 111 in the protrusion is located closer to a lock pin 21, the magnetic attraction force between the lock pin 21 and the permanent magnet member 10 becomes stronger, so that the permanent magnet member 10 is locked more firmly when retracted from above the magnetic disk (at the time of locking), whereby the stability can be enhanced.

    • There is provided a disk drive that includes a base, a limiting member, an actuator, and a latch. The actuator includes an actuator catch with a catch path. The latch contacts the limiting member with the latch in an open position. The latch is biased to rotate to a defeat position. An arresting portion is in the catch path with the latch in a closed position. The arresting portion is not in the catch path with the latch in the open position, and not in the catch path with the latch in the defeat position. A crash stop portion contacts the actuator with the latch in the closed position and with the actuator in a stop position. The crash stop portion does not contact the actuator with the latch in the defeat position.

    • A suspension assembly and an actuator having the same, which are of a hard disk drive (HDD). The suspension assembly includes a load beam coupled to an end of a swing arm of an actuator; a flexure attached to the load beam to support the slider; and a tip-tab which extends from a front end of the load beam to contact a ramp when the read/write head is parked, wherein a width of a contact part of the tip-tab that contacts the ramp is wider than other parts of the tip-tab. A width of a part of the tip-tab engaged with the load beam and a width of a front part of the tip-tab are smaller than the width of the contact part. The width of the tip-tab increases gradually from the front end of the load beam up to the contact part, and decreases gradually after the contact part.
