    • Disclosed are an electrodeless bulb (10), and an electrodeless lighting system having the same. The electrodeless bulb (10) includes; a light emitting unit (11, 13) having an airtight inside space (116, 13a); a main discharge material filled in the inside space (11a, 13a) of the light emitting unit (11, 13) and discharged by microwave, for emitting light; a discharge assistant material filled in the light emitting unit (11, 13), for forming plasma in the inside space (11a, 13a) before the main discharge material generates plasma; and a discharge catalyst material filled in the light emitting unit (11, 13), for inducing initial discharge of the main discharge material and the discharge assistant material. The lighting system improves lighting efficiency of the main discharge material filled in the light emitting unit (11, 13), and has an eco-friendly characteristic by excluding an environmental contaminant such as mercury.

    • A plasma display panel has a screen (50) composed of a plurality of cells and a dielectric layer (17) across the entirety of the screen, and each cell includes a discharge space (31) filled with a discharge gas, a pair of electrodes (X, Y) for causing discharge in the discharge space (31), and a dielectric that is part of the dielectric layer (17) and that is interposed between the discharge space (31) and the electrodes (X, Y). The dielectric layer (17) has such a distribution of thickness that the dielectric layer is thinnest at the central portion of the screen and is gradually growing from the central portion of the screen toward the peripheral portions of the screen. The distribution of thickness in the dielectric layer makes the variation in the discharge delay between cells prominent, thereby relaxing the concentration of the discharge current.

    • A high-pressure discharge lamp has an outer envelope (1) in which a discharge vessel (11) is arranged enclosing a discharge space (13) with an ionizable filling. The discharge vessel has two mutually opposed neck-shaped portions (2,3) through which current supply conductors (4, 5) extend to a pair of electrodes (6, 7) in the discharge space. A lamp base (8) of electrically insulating material supports the discharge vessel. The lamp base also supports the outer envelope. The outer envelope with a volume equal to or less than 2 cc encloses the current supply conductors and is connected to the lamp base in a gas-tight manner. A getter (10) is provided in the outer envelope for pumping out residual nitrogen from the outer envelope after sealing off the discharge lamp prior to operation of the discharge lamp, the getter (10) comprising at least 2.5 mbar.ml nitrogen. Preferably, the getter comprises an alloy of zirconium and aluminum or of zirconium and cobalt.

    • The present invention relates to a black paste composition and an upper plate of plasma display panel using the same. The upper plate of plasma display panel comprises an upper substrate, a transparent electrode disposed on a predetermined position of the upper substrate, a bus electrode disposed on a predetermined position of the transparent electrode and a black matrix disposed between the transparent electrode and the bus electrode, and in each discharge cell. The black paste composition comprises about 5 to 25 parts by weight of a heat resistant black pigment; about 5 to 20 parts by weight of a glass powder; about 25 to 30 parts by weight of a binder; about 5 to 15 parts by weight of a photopolymerization monomer; about 1 to 10 parts by weight of a photopolymerization initiator; and about 20 to 35 parts by weight of a solvent. In the black paste composition and the upper plate of the plasma display panel using the same according to the present invention, the contact resistance between the bus electrode and the transparent electrode is low, the black matrix has a high black rate, and the manufacturing cost is reduced since the black matrix is made of the black paste composition containing MnCo2O4.
