    • A compression board apparatus of a generally planar surface has an insert that compresses to a position that is flat or flush with a top surface of the board, when a load is applied to the top surface of the board. When the load is removed, the insert releases, thereby expanding to a released position. The insert is arranged to both extend above the top surface of the board and extend below a bottom surface of the board. The insert may be secured by at least locking mechanism and enables a user who applies a load to the top surface of the board to maintain contact with the board's surface, even in an airborne position and when the board is in a non-planar position.

    • A swing arm suspension and steering skateboard (70) for providing improved suspension by the angular geometry and movement of a swing arm (74) mounted on a swing arm axle (72) in conjunction with a spring (77) attached between a skateboard under carriage (75), which allows independent suspension if the springs (77) are located on each of the swing arms (74), while still enabling a similar steering to that of a conventional skateboard. The swing arms (74) locate a wheel axle (73) which can rotate within a wheel axle ball joint (84) or by other methods disclosed and have the advantage in that the swing arms are used to perform both suspension and steering purposes. This improved design allows for improved suspension when a skateboard rider performs tricks and jumps to avoid heavy landings. A swing arm suspension and torsion steering skateboard (110) also provides improved suspension by the angular geometry and movement of a torsion swing arm (104) mounted on the swing arm axle (72) in conjunction with the spring (77) attached to the skateboard under carriage (75) which allows for all the suspension, while a torsion bush (105) locating a torsion swivel shaft (108) attached to the wheel axle (73) allows for all the steering and also produces a similar steering to that of a conventional skateboard while being of a simple yet very capable new design. Both skateboards allow for improved suspension while still enabling steering and providing a new unique skateboard design and rider experience.
