摘要： The description relates to controlling slagging and/or fouling in biomass burning furnaces. Combustion of such a biomass the fuel with air produces combustion gases containing sodium and/or potassium compositions, and the combustion gases are treated by contacting the combustion gases with kaolin and aluminum hydroxide. At least one of the kaolin and aluminum hydroxide can be introduced with the fuel, in a combustion chamber, with reburn fuel or with overfire air. For fuels also high in zinc and/or heavy metals, magnesium hydroxide is introduced into the combustion chamber or following heat exchangers.

摘要： A process and system are disclosed for capturing carbon dioxide from a gas stream. The process and system comprise a first stage, in which a metal silicate is reacted with nitric acid to produce a metal nitrate. The metal silicate can be one or more of: an alkaline-earth metal silicate, in particular magnesium or calcium; or an alkali metal silicate, in particular lithium. The process and system also comprise a second stage, in which the metal nitrate from the first stage is heated to a temperature sufficient to decompose the metal nitrate to a metal oxide. The process and system further comprise a third stage, in which the metal oxide is mixed with water to convert the metal oxide to a metal hydroxide solution. The process and system additionally comprise a fourth stage, in which the gas stream is scrubbed with the solution from the third stage such that the metal hydroxide reacts with the carbon dioxide to form a metal carbonate/bicarbonate product.

摘要： Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods of removing carbon dioxide from a gaseous stream using magnesium hydroxide and then regenerating the magnesium hydroxide. In some embodiments, the systems and methods can further comprise using the waste heat from one or more gas streams to provide some or all of the heat needed to drive the reactions. In some embodiments, magnesium chloride is primarily in the form of magnesium chloride dihydrate and is fed to a decomposition reactor to generate magnesium hydroxychloride, which is in turn fed to a second decomposition reactor to generate magnesium hydroxide.

After the flue gas stream has been contacted with a sorbent, ozone is mixed downstream into the flue gas stream thereby oxidizing the nitrogen oxides and other contaminants. The oxidized contaminants is contacted with sorbent present in the gas stream in the remaining height or volume of the scrubber downstream of ozone injection; and The sorbent is then separated from the flue gas stream leaving the dry or semi- dry scrubber.

The systems involve a reactor having a heater, with the reactor configured such that a heated sample is flowed through a calcareous sorbent during heating and then cooled in the presence of a solid metal that is more chemically active or less noble than mercury. The methods may be used as a part of an emissions monitoring process to insure compliance with emission standards and to precisely gage the amount of abatement needed.
