摘要： The present invention relates to a liquid-gas contacting unit (1) comprising a column (100), at least a lower packed bed (110) and a higher packed bed (120) positioned higher than the lower packed bed (110) inside the column (100), a gas-tight liquid collecting and redistributing device (130) disposed between the lower and the higher packed bed (110; 120) inside the column (100) and an external pipe (140) outside the column (100), the external pipe (140) comprising an inlet end (141), an outlet end (142) and a peripheral wall (143) between the inlet end (141) and the outlet end (142); the inlet end (141) being positioned between the lower packed bed (110) and the gas-tight liquid collecting and redistributing device (130) and the outlet end (142) being positioned between the higher packed bed (120) and the gas-tight liquid collecting and redistributing device (130). The present invention also relates to a method for improving the efficiency of a liquid-gas contacting unit by directing the gas from the lower packed bed to the higher packed bed through the external pipe.

A first mercaptan- comprising gas stream is contacted counter-currently with an absorption medium comprising a substituted disulphide and a nitrogen-containing base to obtain a second mercaptan-depleted gas stream. The substituted disulphinde preferably is R II -SS-R III wherein: R II and R III are the same and are selected from: -(CH 2 )n-X, wherein n = 2 or 3, and wherein X = OR, and wherein R = H or -(CH 2 O) n H or -(CH 2 O)nCH 3 and n = 1 or 2. Absorption medium is regenerated and recycled.

摘要： Multiple risers are provided to perform different steps in a biogas water wash process. The risers may include absorption risers, flashing risers, and stripping risers. In each riser, the inlets to provide fluids to the riser and outlets to remove fluids from the risers are provided atone end of the riser. Each riser may then be located substantially below grade such that the end with the inlets and outlets is accessible at or just above the ground level. The risers within each step of the water wash process may be connected in series, parallel, or a combination thereof. The risers may also be constructed of a polyethylene material to reduce cost, and weight of the water wash system.

摘要： A process for reducing the amount of CO 2 released into the atmosphere with the exhaust gas stream produced by the combustion of a hydrocarbon fuel in an internal combustion engine (ICE) used to power a vehicle by capturing at least a portion of the CO 2 in a liquid sorbent on board the vehicle, recovering the CO 2 from the sorbent and compressing the CO 2 for temporary storage on board the vehicle, where the process is operated as a semi-closed system in which the liquid sorbent that captures the CO 2 serves as a working fluid and retains the CO 2 during the power generation cycle to produce mechanical energy or work, after which the CO 2 is desorbed for densification and recovery as an essentially pure gas stream and the working fluid is recycled for use in the process.
