    • A method of manufacturing a disposable undergarment includes moving a web of body panel material in a longitudinal machine direction and cutting the web of body panel material along the longitudinal machine direction tothereby form a rear body panel web and a front body panel web each having a maximum rise and a minimum rise respectively. The maximum rise of each of the rear and front body panel webs is greater than the minimum rise of a corresponding one of the rear and front body panel webs. The method further includes shifting at least one of the rear and front body panel webs in the longitudinal machine direction and thereby aligning the maximum rises of the rear and front body panel webs. The method further includes separating the rear and front body panels in a lateral cross direction, such that the maximum rises of each of the rear and front body panel webs are spaced apart in thelateral cross direction and form a gap therebetween in a non-overlapping relationship. The method further includes aligning a crotch member with the maximum rises of the front and rear body panels and connecting the crotch member to each of the rear and front body panel webs and thereby bridging the gap therebetween. A disposable undergarment is also provided.

    • A method for assembling a refastenable absorbent garment includes moving a landing material in a machine direction, wherein the landing material has opposite lateral side edges, moving a fastener material in a machine direction, wherein the fastener material comprises a refastenable portion and a base portion, and removeably attaching the refastenable portion of the fastener material to at least one of the side edges of the landing material. The method preferably further includes successively cutting the landing material with the fastener material removeably attached thereto along a cross direction and thereby forming a plurality of landing members with a fastener member removeably attached thereto and successively rotating each of the plurality of landing members with the fastener member removeably attached thereto. The method preferably further includes moving a base web in a machine direction, successively attaching each of the landing members to the base web and attaching the base portion of the fastener member to the base web. An apparatus for fabricating the refastenable absorbent garment is also provided.

    • This invention relates to a method of transferring a discrete portion (26) of a first web (14) onto a second web (48). The method includes advancing the first web at a first speed and advancing the second web at a second speed. The first web is directed to a converting mechanism (24) where a discrete portion is formed. The discrete portion is then transferred onto a vacuum anvil roll (32) that is rotating at the speed of the first web. The method further includes transferring the discrete portion from the vacuum anvil onto a transfer roll (40) that is also traveling at the first speed. The transfer roll is a vacuum roll that is driven by a servomotor (44) and is capable of changing speeds quickly. The speed of the transfer roll is varied to match the speed of the second web and the discrete portion is transferred onto the second web.

    • A laminated stretch cushion strap assembly (20) having a stretchable cover (22), a stretchable cushion filler (64) and a stretchable bottom or bottom fabric (62, 28). The cover (22) includes a stretchable top fabric, a first adhesive web layer (24) positioned on one side of the top fabric and a stretchable base layer (26) positioned on the first adhesive layer on a side oposite that of the top fabric (22). The stretchable bottom fabric (28) forms with the cover (22) an enclosure. The stretchable cushion filler (64) is adapted to be completely enclosed within the enclosure. The stretchable cushion filler (64) has a first cushion layer (32), and adhesive for securing during laminating the cover to the stretchable cushion filler (64), and the cushion filler (64) to the stretchable bottom fabric (28). The adhesive is a second adhesive web layer (30) positioned between the stretchable base layer (26) and the first cushion layer (32) to secure the cushion filler (64) to the cover (22) and a third adhesive web layer (34) positioned on the first cushion layer (32) to secure the bottom fabric (28) to the cushion filler (64). The components of the cushion strap assembly are laminated together completely by heat and adhesive.
