Das Entkoppeln der zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Produkteströme, wird platzsparend und flexibel vorzugsweise dadurch erreicht, dass die im ersten Produktestrom herangeführten Druckprodukte (25) zur Pufferung gleichzeitig fortlaufend in einem im wesentlichen quasi-statischen Zustand und in einer verdichteten Anordnung zwischengespeichert und nach dem Zwischenspeichern mit veränderlicher Geschwindigkeit im zweiten Produktestrom der Druckweiterverarbeitung zugeführt werden. Durch das Einschleusen von Druckprodukten aus weiteren Quellen in den ersten Produktestrom kann die Kapazität der Druckweiteverarbeitung optimal ausgenutzt werden.

The method includes providing a plurality of documents in an input tray and transporting each document along the path from the input tray at a transport velocity past the scanner to obtain scanned image data.
