摘要： Circuits and methods that solve the light-load problem of a multi-level converter by generating a ripple signal in the control loop of the multi-level converter that causes a large output current ripple during light load conditions. This added current ripple does not change the average output current but does create a temporary positive and negative current that can be used to balance and charge/discharge the fly capacitors of the multi-level converter. An alternative approach is to add extra switching cycles for the fly capacitors when the output ripple current crosses zero.

摘要： A bidirectional direct current-to-direct current (DC-DC) converter includes a converter (500), which can be operated as a boost or buck converter, and a control unit. The converter (500) consists of a set of inductors (L1, L2), a set of capacitors (C1, C2), and a set of switches (GS1-GS5). The control unit can be configured to activate the converter (500) as boost converter by turning ON first switches (GS2, GS3) of the set of switches and turning OFF remaining second switches (GS1, GS4, GS5) of the set of switches. The control unit can be configured to activate the converter as the buck converter by turning OFF the first switches (GS2, GS3) and turning ON (GS1, GS4, GS5) the remaining second switches.

摘要： In the parallel operation of power supply units, a high line ripple current may be observed in output when the power supply units (PSUs) are supplied with different inputs. For example, a high line ripple current may be observed when PSUs were supplied with different line frequency inputs and/or when PSUs were supplied with different phase angle input lines. A low pass filter is in a control loop which is capable of filtering the line frequency to get an average current reference signal. The average current reference signal is compared with the real time output current to generate an error signal. This error signal is fed back to a voltage control loop to adjust the output in order to compensate the line ripple.
