183 Method for preconception sex selection of calf and display device for fertilizing period JP2006197993 2006-07-20 JP2008022760A 2008-02-07 SASAKURI KOJI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the preconception sex selection of calf.
SOLUTION: The number of steps of a cow 8 is measured by attaching a pedometer 30 to the cow, and the estrus starting time is detected by comparing the measured number with an average step number of the past prescribed period. When a female calf is desired, the cow is copulated within the period between 7 hours and 11 hours from the estrus starting time and, when a male calf is desired, the cow is copulated within the period between 16 hours and 21 hours after the estrus starting time. Calf of high commercial value can be obtained by the preconceptual sex selection method.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

The present invention provides a subcutaneous injection product for cattle for inducing superovulation characterized by comprising aluminum hydroxide gel and an efficient amount of a gonadotropin, wherein the concentration of the aluminum hydroxide is, in terms of the amount of aluminum, higher than or equal to 0.2 mg/mL and lower than 1.0 mg/mL, which is a subcutaneous injection product that is useful for producing good calves and that can induce superovulation in a cow by a single administration. The present invention also provides a method for producing good calves undergoing steps of subcutaneously injecting the aforementioned injection product into a cow to thereby induce superovulation, inducing estrus in the cow, conducting artificial insemination, and then collecting fertilized eggs.

A method to palpate cows or heifers which includes determining the natural state of consistency of the uterus to determine the size of the uterus to know the physio-reproductive status of the uterus, touching the uterus by sliding the hand on the uterus from the base of the horns towards the tip of the horns to determine the anatomically similarities or differences between the two horns to determine which of the horns is active; and feel the uterus to determine how the active horn reacts.

197 CATTLE BIRTHING METHOD PCT/US0151111 2001-10-23 WO0234036A3 2002-09-06 KIMM CLARE J SR
The present invention is a method of turning the biological clock around so that pregnant mother cows give birth (calve) during the day. The method involves holding the pregnant cows in confined corrals, feeding and watering them only at night, and providing no food or water to them during the daytime. After a few days of using the method, the birthing cycle reverses, and the pregnant cows will calve during the daytime as opposed to during the nighttime.
