127 MODULE FOR BUILDING DATABASE QUERIES US12274059 2008-11-19 US20090138455A1 2009-05-28 Paolo Copello
A module for building a database query has a client-side module part and a server-side module part, creating an abstract query object given user-defined query criteria. The user-defined query criteria has alias names for elements of data tables in the database. An abstract query object is sent to a parse and validate entity. The server-side module part extracts mapping information between the alias names and real names of the elements of the data tables from a private configuration table, which stores the mapping information according to a valid internal structure of the database at the time of extraction. A query on the database is created by extracting a query configuration from the abstract query object and resolving the alias names contained in the query configuration by searching the mapping information of the private configuration table. The query is performed on the data tables, the query results are adapted to changes made in the internal structure of the database, a list of available alias names is extracted from the mapping information, the list of the available alias names is forwarded to the client-side module part. The query results are then forwarded to the client-side module part.

131 Method for controlling interrupt generation in a communication device EP03011825.1 2000-02-29 EP1347615A2 2003-09-24 Gentry, Denton

The invention provides a polling process software module operating on a host computer which polls a network interface by examining a virtual or "alias" register (602) that mirrors the network interface's status register (502). Such an alias register serves as an alternative path (e.g. address) by which to read the status register. Therefore, when an indicator (504-508) changes state to indicate a specific event or condition in the network interface, the corresponding indicator (604-608) in the alias register also changes. When the network interface is polled, if an indicator in the alias register is set to a state indicating the transfer of a packet, the polling module processes the waiting packet(s). Because the polling module reads the alias register instead of the status register, the alias register is cleared each time the polling module reads the network interface. When the alias register is cleared, one or more indicators in the status register may also be cleared, as determined by a programmable mask (610). The value in each mask entry determines whether an associated status register indicator is cleared when a corresponding alias register indicator is cleared.

136 Mobile mapping of quick response (QR) codes to web resources US13663745 2012-10-30 US09348929B2 2016-05-24 Peter Eberlein
A method includes receiving a target Uniform Resource Locator (URL), receiving a scan of a Quick Response (QR) code, where the QR code includes an alias URL, and mapping the alias URL encoded on the QR code to the target URL.
137 Cachability attributes of virtual addresses for optimizing performance of virtually and physically indexed caches in maintaining multiply aliased physical addresses US391389 1995-02-27 US6006312A 1999-12-21 Leslie Kohn; Ken Okin; Dale Greenley
A separate cacheable-in-virtual-cache attribute bit (CV) is maintained for each page of memory in the translation table maintained by the operating system. The CV bit indicates whether the memory addresses on the page to which the translation table entry refers are cacheable in virtually indexed caches. According to a first embodiment, when there are two or more aliases which are not offset by multiples of the virtual cache size, all of the aliases are made non-cacheable in virtually indexed caches by deasserting the CV bits for all aliases. With regards to the contents of the translation lookaside buffer (TLB), the translations for all aliases may simultaneously coexist in the TLB because no software intervention is required to insure data coherency between the aliases. According to second and third embodiments of the present invention, when there are two or more aliases which are not offset by multiples of the virtual cache size, only one of those aliases may remain cacheable in virtual caches. For the other aliases, the CV bits for the translation pages containing those aliases are deasserted. The operating system has the responsibility of flushing data from the virtually indexed internal cache before deasserting the CV attribute for a page. The second embodiment allows the newer mapping to a physical address to remain in the first-level cache, while the third embodiment allows the older alias to remain in the first-level cache when a newer alias is mapped.
138 MOBILE MAPPING OF QUICK RESPONSE (QR) CODES TO WEB RESOURCES US13663745 2012-10-30 US20140117076A1 2014-05-01 Peter Eberlein

A static route setting method for minimizing additional traffic on network and a packet distributing apparatus implementing the same are provided to set up the route conveniently and change the topology of the entire network by the control of a command. A mapping definition request command of alias name about a next-hop address group is received(110). A virtual name mapping table is updated by a netxt-hop address group by the required mapping information(140). The corresponding imaginary name is set up as the outside update state. The corresponding imaginary name of the imaginary name mapping table is updated with the defined next-hop address group information.
140 Dynamic associative storage security for long-term memory storage devices US10983320 2004-11-06 US07814554B1 2010-10-12 Gary Dean Ragner
A hierarchical folder security system for mapping files into and out of alias directories and/or real directories depending on: 1) the directory of the specific file being accessed, 2) the program thread requesting access to a memory storage device (114), and 3) the type of access request being made (i.e. load, save, run, etc.). For write access requests (i.e. save, modify, paste, delete, cut, move, rename, etc.), security controller (180) determines if the requested folder access address (150a) is associated with the requesting program's folder address (168). If it is, the file is written at absolute address (156b) on disk platter (160) through real folder map (152). If requested address (150a) is not associated with program folder address (168), then an alias directory address is created and the file is written at alias address (156a) through alias folder address map (154).
