In an embodiment of the invention, analytical data may be extracted from a business intelligence (BI) system on criteria specified in metadata of a business intelligence query. Once the data is extracted from the BI system, the extracted content may be provided in the context of semantic identifiers. In an embodiment, the semantic identifiers may provide a description of the extracted content associated with the identifier. In one embodiment, the semantic identifiers may be obtained from the criteria specified in the query. In another embodiment, the semantic identifiers may be defined in and obtained from a separate enterprise service repository. In an embodiment, a proposed mapping between query elements and semantic identifiers may be suggested by a processor.

207 Six sigma enabled business intelligence system US09851732 2001-05-08 US20090063209A1 2009-03-05 Timothy M. Dubois; Jacques Senchet; Craig Martell; Guna (Ned) Nedumaran
A method of presenting an analysis of enterprise wide business data. In response to a user request to a web site operable to access enterprise wide business data and to provide statistical analysis, a six sigma enabled BIS transfers an electronic document to the user. The electronic document allows the user to select dimensions to specify which data to analyze for a given performance measure. Then, in response to a request from the user for a statistical analysis, the six sigma enabled BIS performs a statistical analysis of the performance measure and transfers an electronic copy of the statistical analysis to the user. In one embodiment the document comprises a histogram. The histogram has an overlay indicator of the statistical mean, as well as a target limit. In this fashion, the user may view the variance in the data, and see how much data are outside the target range.

A performance analysis system that analyzes the performance of a business intelligence analytics application is provided. The performance analysis system logs data associated with one or more queries of a database within the database. The performance analysis system further generates performance data based on an analysis of the logged data, where the performance data includes data associated with one or more performance metrics of each query. The performance analysis system further generates one or more performance queries of the performance data, where a response to each performance query includes at least a portion of the one or more performance metrics stored within the database.

A system of developing and monitoring a business intelligence environment that utilizes automatic version control and continuous integration techniques to produce tested, reliable business intelligence. Errors are detected and corrected continuously to reduce the time needed by report authors to locate and correct errors in report specifications, metadata models, analysis cubes, and other business intelligence artifacts. Further, by storing previous versions of the artifacts in the source control system, the artifacts can be updated to accommodate revisions needed by the customers, and if revisions damage other parts of the artifacts the revisions can be undone.
210 Business intelligence data reconciliation system US11517711 2006-09-08 US07640273B2 2009-12-29 Reiner Wallmeier; Jens Breyer; Christian Cramer
A sending device sends a key and financial data to a receiver device and a reconciliation device in a business intelligence system. The receiver device verifies the key and sends the verified key and financial data to the business intelligence system. The reconciliation device selects the data sets based on the keys and thereupon compares the financial data. If the comparison reveals the data sets as being proper matches, the financial data is considered reconciled and can then be cleared. If not, the non-reconciled data in the data set may be archived for later reconciliation operations at future time intervals or may be resubmitted to the sending device for reevaluation. The inclusion of addition data and an interaction between various financial processing instruments allows for the reconciliation of business intelligence data in a business intelligence application/system.

A set of query concurrency information associated with the database is determined determining based on the set of accounting data. The set of query concurrency information identifies a plurality of queries executed on the database simultaneously and a duration of this execution. A set of processor utilization distribution information associated with the plurality of queries is determined based on the set of accounting data. A set of data access information indicating a quantity of data accessed by each query in the plurality of queries is determined. A workload profile associated with the database is generated based on the set of query concurrency information, the set of processor utilization distribution information, and the set of data access information.

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for business intelligence data extraction on demand. In general, a first request is sent from a first system to a second system for a query of a data structure to include indications of updates at the second system to data at both the first and second systems. An indication of an update at the second system is received in response to the first request, where the indication includes an identification of updated data. A second request is sent to a database data structure of the second system for data corresponding to the updated data. The updated data is received at the first system in response to the second request. Data is updated at the first system in accordance with the updated data in response to the receiving the updated data.
