Procedeul conform invenţiei constă din înmuierea unor piei naturale cu apă la temperatura de 20°C, într-o flotă de înmuiere, se adaugă 1-2% detergent şi se efectuează spălări succesive, după care pieile se cenuşăresc cu 4...8% hidroxid de calciu, timp de 2...4 zile, sub agitare, se supun operaţiei de postcenuşărire cu 2...4% hidroxid de calciu, timp de 1...2 zile, în continuare pieile se fălţuiesc manual şi se decalcifică cu 1,5...3,5% sulfat de amoniu, timp de 1 h , se sămăluiesc cu 0,5...0,6% agent de sămăluire, timp de 1,5...2 h, după care se degreseazăşi se usucă în stare tensionată.
