Inking-apparatus; intaglio-plate printing.- Inking and wiping apparatus for a plate printing-machine comprises ink-applying rollers i and fountain i, and wipers p mounted on radial arms a, a , a , a , projecting from a vertically rotatable sleeve mounted slidably on a shaft c at the side of the bed f for the engraved plate. By giving the shaft c one rotation bv a handwheel g, the plate is inked and wiped. A pawl t, fixed on the framework at s, operates the ink-fountain and wiping-cloths through ratchetwheels r as they pass it. The fountain i is mounted in slides pressed upwards by springs l and adjusted against the roller i by screws m. The wiping-cloths each pass from a roll o around a roller o to a winding-roll o, all mounted in vertical slides adjusted by screws m . The whole apparatus is also mounted yieldingly, and vertically adjustable, on the shaft c. The printing-plate is mounted on slide f moving between stops on the bed f so that it can easily be brought into correct position to be inked and wiped, and returned to the position for the printing operation.
