摘要： Engine lubricating oil temperature and the amount of engine usage are used to calculate when engine lubricating oil has reached the end of its predicted wear life. Each spark (engine speed) pulse is multiplied by weighting factors that are periodically determined by sampling the engine oil temperature and the length of time the engine has been in continuous use above a predetermined speed. When the value of the accumulated weighted spark pulses has reached a predetermined level, a warning signal is provided to indicate the necessity of changing the engine lubricating oil.

摘要： A piston and ring assembly operative within a cylindrical bore wall to retain fluid to one side of the assembly, comprising a piston having at least one annular stepped groove in the side wall of the piston, the groove being stepped into uppermost and lowermost spaces with the uppermost space having the greatest depth; at least two split compression rings in the groove, effective to each substantially annularly engage the bore wall, the rings having mating surfaces superimposed one upon another and having their split ends out of superimposed alignment, and a solid lubricant that coats essentially all of the groove and constitutes the non-mating surfaces of the superimposed rings. Pressure of the retained fluid forces the rings together to act in unison and seal jointly against both the step and a side of the groove opposite the retained fluid. The solid film lubricant assists in eliminating freezing of the rings against the groove sides, increasing ring fatigue life, enhancing ring tension and reducing engine emissions.

摘要： A hot box core making apparatus having a core box having a thick walled cope and a thin walled metal drag mating in essentially a horizontal parting plane, the cope and drag each having ports therethrough screened to prevent passage of sand, the ports communicating with the interior of the core box; one or more resilient seals that seal and reseal the cope and drag at plane; convection heater delivering a heated gas, to drag ports and thence out through the ports of the cope, the convection heater having a heat conductive manifold attached to and along the draft for augmenting the heat of the gas st it passes to the ports of the drag; and conduction heater (burner units) directly heating both the cope and manifold and thereby the interior of the core box by conduction. The convection heater heats the gas in two stages, first to a temperature level outside said core box and manifold and thence to a second temperature level elevated by exposure to said manifold. The temperature levels are respectively about 175-225.degree.F and 250-290.degree.F.

摘要： of the Invention to be changed A nozzle expels liquid CO2 through an orifice therein for converting the liquid into CO2 snow. The nozzle is contained within an elongated cavity within a body which in turn is coupled to an exhaust nozzle for directing the CO2 snow toward the workpiece. A mixing device is provided for receiving pressurized shop air at ambient temperature with liquid nitrogen for precooling the shop air and then directing the resulting mixture of gases into the cavity in an area adjacent to the nozzle. In this manner, the precooled shop air will enhance the efficiency of the conversion of the liquid CO2 into CO2 particles.
