    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a medium jam in case of setting a printing medium on a platen by providing a carrier moving along the platen for winding the medium. CONSTITUTION:A carrier 11 is disposed at a first position until the end of a printing medium is passed between a printing head 3 and a platen 1, and the medium is guided to be fed at its position by guide means 12 so that, when the medium having a narrow width is used, its corner is not engaged with the end of a printing head at a mask hole, etc. After the end of the medium is passed between the head 3 and the platen 1, the carrier 11 is moved to a second position different from the first position, the means 12 is also moved together, and the medium is then set. When a wide printing medium is used, the vicinity of its center of the medium is retained by the means 12, and so passed as not to engage the medium with a belt.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a transfer recording material from sagging or jamming in the vicinity of a platen and form images free of stagger of transfer position, by a method wherein the minimum gap between a guide member and a platen is set to be larger than the thickness of a transfer recording material, and the recording material is led between the platen and a transfer material under this condition. CONSTITUTION:In a transferring operation, a solenoid 66 is excited to separate a pinch roller 20 from the surface of the platen 10 until the leading end of a paper fed in the state of being wound around the platen 10 reaches a position between the platen 10 and the roller 20. When the paper P is located between the roller 20 and the platen 10, the solenoid 66 is deenergized to press the roller 20 against the surface of the platen 10 to clamp the paper P between the roller 20 and the platen 10, thereby feeding the paper P. The pinch rollers 19, 20 are so disposed as to press the paper P against the platen 10 in the direction substantially per- pendicular to the moving direction of the paper P being fed in the state of being wound around the platen 10. Accordingly, a leading end part of the paper can be prevented from being bent.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to change over to a paper-setting condition by a simple construction and with small space, by a method wherein a roller-supporting plate is provided with a tendency of rotating in one direction under gravity, and a restricting means for restricting the rotating angle of plate is provided. CONSTITUTION:When a knob 17 is pulled leftward, a release lever 16 is rotated, whereby a rotary shaft 3 is also rotated through arm members 20, 19, and a guide plate 5 and a bracket 7 are separated from a platen 4. Simultaneously, pressure rollers supported on the bracket 7 through a pivotal shaft 9 and the roller-supporting plate 10 is also separated from the platen 4 due to the tendency of rotating under gravity, and due to a gap between a roller shaft 11 and a notched part 7a of the bracket 7 and an angular displacement of the bracket 7, gaps (c), (b) are formed between the platen 4 and the rollers 13, 14, resulting in the paper-setting condition. The condition is maintained by the positional relationship between an engaging part 16a and a toggle spring 18. On the other hand, when the knob 17 is turned to the right side, a paper-feeding condition is obtained.
