SOLUTION: The waterproof electric motor 1 has a structure, in which a current supplied via a lead wire 40 flows to a winding wire of a rotor 9 via a commutator 10 allowing a brush 20 to slide so that the rotor 9 drives a shaft 19 to rotate. The electric motor 1 includes: a communicating hole 33, penetrating a partition wall portion 34 and communicating a motor output chamber 12 with a motor inner chamber 11; a checking valve 63 seated to the partition wall portion 34 and closing the communicating hole 33; and a grommet 60 for inserting the lead wire 40 and hermetically sealing the motor inner chamber 11. In the electric motor 1, the checking valve 63 is formed integrally, as a part of the grommet 60, the checking valve 63 opens the communicating hole 33 by a negative pressure generated in the motor inner chamber 11 and allows the air of the motor output chamber 12 to flow into the motor inner chamber 11.
