    • PURPOSE:To aim at simplifying a hydraulic drive unit and reducing the cost thereof, by forming both pump and actuator together, of a single rod type cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A pump 1' and a single rod type cylinder 2 is connected through a pipe 3 for constituting a closed-loop circuit. The pump 1' is constructed such that the area ratio A1/A2 of the head side to the rod side of a piston 4 is made eqaul to the area ratio B1/B2 of the head side to the rod side of a piston 5 in an actuator 2. Further, a feed screw mechanism is constituted such that a bearing 8 is threadedly engaged with a feed thread 7 formed on a piston rod 6 for converting torque transmitted from a steering wheel 9 to the piston rod 6, into linear motion for driving a piston 4.

    • PURPOSE:To permit the broken position in a circuit to be detected automatically and permit continuous steering operation through other normal circuits, by installing an oil-level detector with which the lowered oil-level in the oil tank of each pump unit can be detected in three stages. CONSTITUTION:If breakage accident occurs at the position X during the steering operation by a hydraulic pump 1, the following operations are carried-out in succession: starting of a pilot pump 10, shut-off of the flow by an electromagnetic hydraulic selector valve 8, opening of the electromagnetic hydraulic selector valve 8 by an oil-level detector 11, shut-off of the flow of a valve 8' and stop of the hydraulic pump 1, and starting of a hydraulic pump 1'. Therefore, the steering operation can be continued in the state perfectly shut-off from the system in breakage accident by the hydraulic system comprising the hydraulic pump 1' and a cylinder 2'. If breakage accident occurs at the position Y, the steering operation can be continued, in the stage of shut-off of the flow by the electromagnetic hydraulic selector valve 8, by the hydraulic system comprising the hydraulic pump 1 and the cylinder 2.

    • PURPOSE:To simplify the air exhausting work and prevent a rudder from being operated on account of an external force by means of a simple check valve, by returning the working oil on the return side into a tank housed in a helm pump. CONSTITUTION:When the rat handle 2 of a helm pump 1 is operated, working oil is supplied from the port B of the helm pump 1 to the rod-side port 35b of a one-side rod cylinder 4 along arrows Y1 Y2, and the working oil discharged from the head-side port 35a of the one-side rod cylinder 4 is returned to the return port R of the helm pump 1 along arrows Y3-Y4-Y5-Y6-Y7. As the working oil on the return side is returned to the tank of the helm pump 1, passing through return passages 61b, 62, and 63, the air exhausting work can be simplified. Further, as the working oil is returned to the tank even if the helm pump 1 is in operation, the response performance of the rudder can be improved.
