[Class 7 (ii).] Gaseous fuel for internal-combustion engines is generated by electrolysis of water or other suitable liquid in a cell 1 containing electrode plates 2, alternately positive and negative, separated by insulating strips. The gas accumulates above the liquid in the space 4 and is led by a duct 5 to a chamber 6 containing a throttle valve 7 and provided with a restricted passageway 8. Air may be admitted to the chamber 6. The mixture may be drawn into the cylinders by suction or may be delivered under pressure. The space 4 may be connected through a valve to a rubber or like expansible container housed in a separate receptacle. A filling-cap 9, safety-valve 10 and pressuregauge 12 are provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 126,889, [Class 41, Electrolysis], and 168,939, [Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for].

    • A container adapted to be stacked on top of a second container is provided. The container includes a first end wall and a sidewall having a first end and a second end. The container includes a first seam coupling the first end wall to the first end of the sidewall, the first seam including a shoulder extending inwardly from an outer surface of the first seam. The container includes an alignment feature extending from the shoulder away from the first end wall. The alignment feature is adapted to align the container relative to the second container and to resist lateral movement of the container relative to the second container when the container is stacked on top of the second container.

    • An actuation system is usable for a choke. The choke can be moved between open and closed positions by a variety of devices, including a stepping actuator. A rapid shutdown feature involving a hydraulically driven override allows the stem of the choke to be moved rapidly to close the choke. The actuator resumes its old position when the hydraulic shutdown mode is overridden, thus allowing the choke to return to its prior position before it was rapidly closed. Shutdown of the choke is rapid, while a return to its former position is gradual.

    • A valve actuator with an emergency shutdown feature incorporates shutdown of the valve when a sensed line pressure is outside of high- and low-pressure trip points. The actuator can be manually tripped. The actuator can be tripped in the event of a fire or, incorporating a solenoid, a trip can be accomplished with an appropriate signal. Once tripped, the actuator requires manual reset. The normal open and closed operation of the valve cooperates with a clutching mechanism which is part of the trip system. The preferred embodiment of the clutching system is a torsion spring or springs which normally allow movement in one direction but not in the other unless acted upon by the tripping system.
