    • A rotary slide valve for power-assisted steering mechanisms of motor vehicles has two valve elements (1, 2) which are arranged to be coaxially movable within each other and are connected with each other via a torsion rod (7) and a backlash coupling (8) in such a way that they are rotatable around each other by maximally the pivot path of the backlash coupling. The inner valve element (1) is connected with a valve inlet member (3) and the outer valve element (2) with a valve outlet member (4), fixed against relative rotation. The one part of the backlash coupling (8) is formed on the radially inner valve element (1) by claws (10) which project in relation to its front face in the axial direction. The other part of the backlash coupling (8) is constituted by two pins (11) which are disposed parallel with each other in the radially outer valve element (2), whose axes (12) are located in a plane (13) extending perpendicularly in respect to the axis (14) of the rotary slide valve. The axes (12) of the pins (11) are arranged symmetrically with each other in respect to the axis (14) of the rotary slide valve. The backlash coupling and control path limitation realized by means of this rotary sliding valve can be produced with simple means.

    • A steering gear, especially for motor vehicles, has a steering worm sector shaft (10) including a toothed quadrant and a steering nut (4) displaceable axially by a steering shaft and engaging with the toothed quadrant with a steering rack section (7). To eliminate the toothing play occurring between the toothed quadrant and the steering rack section (7), a spring pressure element (14) is provided that is located outside of the surface plane that includes the axis of the steering shaft and is perpendicular to the toothing surface plane of the steering rack section (7), and that exerts a twisting force on the steering nut (4) in the straight-ahead-travel position of the steering gear. The spring pressure element (14) includes two spring washers (15, 16) located concentrically with each other on the steering worm sector shaft (10). The two spring washers (15, 16) are connected with each other by a connecting arm (17). The outer spring washer (15) bears an extension (18) directed radially outward that has the shape of the central tooth of the toothed quadrant and is supported by the steering rack section (7) in the straight-ahead-travel position of the steering gear. The side of the inner spring washer (16) facing the steering rack section (7) is supported by the steering worm sector shaft (10).

    • A servo assisted power steering system for motor vehicles comprising a steering-wheel shaft (2) which is connected via a rotary slide valve (6, 7, 8) and a worm-gear spindle (4) of a steering gear (5). The rotary slide valve controls the pressure impacting on a working piston (15) in a hydraulic power boost device. A power takeoff shaft (20) of an electric motor (21) is connected with the rotary slide (7) of rotary slide valve. In case of a rotary motion of steering-wheel shaft (2), a sensor (22) so activates electric motor (21) that a small counterforce is generated upon rotary slide (7) and that force works against the rotary motion of steering-wheel shaft (2). After completion of the rotary motion of steering-wheel shaft (2), as the steering wheel is let go, rotary slide (7) is moved back all the way into its neutral position by the electric motor.
