    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To purify a liquefied petroleum gas which is apt to contain traces of harmful impurities capable of degrading and damaging an evaporator, etc., by bringing a liquefied petroleum gas in a liquid phase containing traces of harmful impurities into contact with a solid adsorbent at normal temperature. SOLUTION: A liquefied propane gas and a liquefied butane gas are preferable as the liquefied petroleum gas, a liquefied butane gas which is apt to contain traces of harmful impurities being especially suitable. Though not specifically limited, the impurities are NaOH, etc., and usually contained in an amount of about 40-100 ppt. Active carbon, silica, alumina, silica-alumina, etc., are listed as the solid adsorbent. A solid adsorbent having a specific surface area of 10 m2/g or higher and an average micropore radius of 2 Å or higher is used. Active carbon is especially preferable, and one having a specific surface area of 100 m2/g or higher, an average micropore radius of 5-50 Å, and a ratio of the volume of micropores having radii of 20 Å or lower to the total micropore volume of 50% or higher is the most suitable, Preferably, the active carbon is prepared from coconut shell charcoal.
