摘要： The invention relates to a method for producing CO2 for attracting bloodsucking arthropods (2). In this method, at least one liquid or solid organic substance (11) is reacted in an oxidation process in a targeted manner, one portion completely and another partially, thus forming, in addition to CO2, H2O and heat, at least one further partial oxidation product (P). The invention further relates to a device (1a, 1b) for generating CO2, said device (1a, 1b) comprising a storage means (10) for at least one liquid or solid organic substance (11) and an evaporation module (14) for the liquid or solid organic substance (11). The device (1a, 1b) comprises a reactor module (16) for the controlled oxidation and partial oxidation of the at least one liquid or solid organic substance (11); a control unit (80); and means (13, 18, 21, 22, 26) for regulating the oxidation and partial oxidation process. The means (13, 18, 21, 22, 26) for regulating the oxidation and partial oxidation process can be regulated via the control unit (80), hence allowing defined reaction conditions to be set in the reactor module (16) for the targeted control of the oxidation and partial oxidation process.

摘要： An insect trap has a hollow body generally centered on an upright axis, having a central upwardly open output passage, and formed around the central output passage with an annular intake passage having a dark-colored inner surface. A light-colored foraminous wall upwardly covers the central output passage and has a surface area substantially greater than that of the intake passage. A blower in the body expels air from the body through the central output passage and through the foraminous wall at a predetermined low speed and draws air into the annular intake passage at a high speed substantially higher than the predetermined low speed. Insects attracted by the weak stream or by a contrast between the dark-colored inner surface and the light-colored foraminous wall are trapped in the annular intake passage.

For example, a method of present invention includes applying a photosensitizing composition to treatment site within ear cavity where microbes causing otitis externa are located; inserting at least a portion of a light delivery device into the cavity; and applying light to the treatment site at a wavelength absorbed by the photosensitizing composition so as to inhibit or eliminate the microbes and/or to reduce inflammation at the treatment site but without causing physiological damage to host tissue within the ear cavity; wherein the light is delivered by the light delivery device to the treatment site and the light delivery device is in light communication with a light source via a waveguide.

For example, a device of the present invention includes a member having a base portion, an insert portion adapted for insertion into the cavity, and a pocket adapted for communication with a waveguide which is connected to a light source for delivering light to the device, wherein the pocket includes a light dispersing section that is adapted for light communication with distal end of the waveguide and desired illumination pattern for photodisinfection of the cavity is provided by at least one of the elements selected from the group consisting of: surface finish of the light dispersing section, geometry of the light dispersing section, surface finish of the member, geometry of the member, and a combination thereof. The present invention can be used for humans, other animals, and inanimate objects.
