    • A computer-implemented method can include receiving, at a computing device including one or more processors, an input from a user. The input can include one or more characters in a first writing system. The method can further include segmenting the input to obtain one or more segmentations, where each segmentation can include at least one segment including at least one character in the first writing system. A fuzzy model can be applied to the segmentations to obtain potential formal representations for the segmentations. Each of the potential formal representations can be in the first writing system and represent text in a second writing system. A plurality of character candidates can be determined based on the potential formal representations. Each of the plurality of character candidates can be a possible appropriate representation of the user input in the second writing system.

    • The invention provides a data filtering system and method, wherein the data filtering system comprises: an extracting unit for extracting property characteristic of source data and sending it to a selecting unit; the selecting unit for selecting at least one property characteristic based on which data filtering is performed and for sending the selected property characteristic to a filtering condition generating unit; the filtering condition generating unit which, according to the selected at least one property characteristic, generates at least one filtering module that corresponds to the at least one property characteristic respectively and combines the at least one filtering module to generate filtering conditions; a data filter analysis unit which performs the filtering on source data according to the filtering conditions to thereby generate target data. With the invention, it is ensured that when characteristic of data changes, filtering modules can be recombined freely so as to adapt to the change of data characteristic efficiently.

    • Sensor-based authentication technique embodiments are presented which generally employ sensor readings captured by a user's computing device (such as a mobile computing device like a cell phone, smart phone, PDA, and so on) to authenticate the user's access to a computer network-based service (such as a web-service) that is secured with traditional textual passwords. These traditional passwords are saved in an off-device password repository service. The aforementioned sensor readings are not cached on the user's computing device and are immediately streamed to the password repository service, where they are validated against a pre-arranged, known sensor-based password. If the validation succeeds, access to the password protected service is brokered by the password repository service on behalf of the user using the appropriate traditional password, and the user's computing device is granted access.

    • A computer-implemented technique includes receiving a first input from a user at a user device, the first input including a first word of a first alphabet-based language, which is a transliteration of a non-alphabet-based language, which is one of a logogram-based language and a syllabogram-based language. The technique then compares the first words to pluralities of potential translated words from one or more datastores associated with a second alphabet-based language and the logogram-based or syllabogram-based languages. The technique may then generate a probability score for each of the pluralities of potential translated words, the probability score indicating a likelihood of an appropriate translation. The techniques may then provide the user with some or all of the pluralities of potential translated words and the user may select an appropriate translated word to obtain a selected word, which may then be displayed via a display of the user device.
