    • A rope-pull starting device for an internal combustion engine including a hub, rope pulley, rope and torsion damper spring. The hub configured to drivingly engage an engine when the hub is rotated in a first direction. The rope pulley interconnects with the hub by a torsion damper spring. The torsion damper spring coupled at a first end to the hub and at a second end to the rope pulley, wherein the torsion damper spring is coiled from the first end connected to the hub, toward the rope pulley, in a second direction opposite to the first direction, and whereby the rope pulley is rotated in the first direction when the rope is unwound therefrom and the torsion damper spring responsively urges the hub to rotate in the first direction.

    • A centrifugal blower includes a main scroll portion and a scroll opening through which air is discharged. A transitional portion conducts air discharged through the scroll opening away from the blower. The transitional portion includes an internal passageway that provides for the smooth passage of air essentially without causing any abrupt changes in the direction of the flow of the air through the passageway. An impeller assembly can be mounted within the main scroll portion for rotation so as to circulate the air in a spiral path within the main scroll portion and force the air through the scroll opening and the passageway in the transitional portion. The impeller assembly can have a platen that has a perimeter and a plurality of impeller blades mounted at the platen for rotation with the platen. Each impeller blade can have a distal end that extends beyond the perimeter of the platen.

    • A stationary or bench mounted belt sander is described constructed of a die cast bed or frame rotatably supporting a drive roll or pulley at one end thereof and provided at the other end portion thereof with generally longitudinal ways for slidably supporting a pair of generally parallel spaced apart outwardly extending generally elongated U-shaped stamped metal yoke or support bracket members provided at their inner or proximal end portions with camming surfaces. The distal ends of the yokes carry pins generally perpendicular thereto supporting a shaft for an idler roll or pulley. The bed or frame is also provided with transverse ways carrying ramp elements engaging the camming surfaces of the yokes, with the ramp elements being provided with transversely outwardly extending screws for cooperation with a nut or internally threaded knob members to pull the ramp members transversely outwardly to thereby cam the yokes longitudinally outwardly for tensioning and tracking adjustment of a sanding belt passed about the drive and idler pulleys. An extension spring spans the bed between the ramp members and the bed, between the pulleys defines a platen. Locking means may also be provided for locking the yokes positively in position.

    • A jointer-planer is fabricated of a single generally U-shaped die-casting of integral one-piece construction extending generally the full length and breadth of the machine and to which each of the other major components are directly attached having a base section defining the out-feed table and two parallel, spaced apart side edge leg portions extending past the cutter assembly and on opposite sides of the in-feed table so that the in-feed table is disposed between the elongated side edge leg portions. One of the elongated side edge leg portions is provided with a pair of longitudinally spaced apart fence mounting bracket portions of integral, one-piece construction therewith having generally arcuate outer surfaces providing a virtual pivot axis about which a molded longitudinally extensive elongated fence of integral, one-piece construction is positioned. A pair of locking screws hold the fence to the mounting bracket while a guard for the cutter assembly is pivotally mounted to the other of the elongated side portions of the out-feed table casting. The motor, cutter assembly, in-feed table assembly, and base are each directly also mounted to the U-shaped die-casting.

    • A table support of die-cast and machined generally wedge-shaped configuration is suspended from the machine base by four screws and positioned by four leveling screws adjacent the suspension screws. The table support provides two parallel, spaced apart flat, inclined ramps or ways along which the in-feed table is moved by a height adjustment screw. The in-feed table is also of die-cast and machined generally wedge-shaped configuration and is held to the table support by a pair of extension coil springs having looped ends that are inserted into holes provided in the table and table support castings, respectively, so that the assembly is of generally rectangular block shape of variable height. In assembly, the springs are assembled in a relatively unstressed position and the table and table support moved relative one another by pushing the table up the ramps or ways on the table support to stretch and tension the springs to tighten the table and table support together. A hook on the table rides over a lug on the table support when the springs are stretched to lock the unit or assembly together.
