    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the wire consumption, by enabling the number of turns to be set on a reinforcing-bar binding machine of an electric type.
      SOLUTION: A means for detecting the amount of wire fed is composed of a magnet disposed on the peripheral face of a V-grooved main drive gear 4 of a wire feed mechanism, and a magnetic sensor disposed on the body of the machine. The body is provided with a switch 14 for setting the number of turns about a reinforcing bar. Based upon a set value on the switch, the control section controls an amount of wire fed by the wire feed mechanism. Accordingly, the number of winds about a reinforcing bar can be arbitrarily set, for example, from one to four. In addition, each part can be bound with a binding force that matches the required strength of the part. A part that is sufficient to be bound with less binding force results in a fewer winds and leads to a reduction in wire consumption. This makes it possible to bind tubular materials, used as in electric pipe arrangement and warm water pipe arrangement, which are not as strong as reinforcing bars.
