摘要： A frozen comestible maker (10) suitable for home use includes single or multiple molding cavities (23) for forming frozen comestibles (92, 94), a heat exchanger (37) for maximizing the heat transfer away from the fluid that is being frozen in the molding cavities (23), a refrigerant solution with a depressed freezing point in contact with the heat exchangers (37), a base container (20) to seal the refrigerant solution from the fluid that is being frozen, and a bezel piece (25) to retain spills and aid with handling. The refrigerant solution is captured between the molding cavities (23) and the base container (20). One or more sticks (50), a drip cup (54), and an extraction tool (70) may be provided with the frozen comestible maker (10) for preparing and extracting shaped frozen comestibles (92, 94), such as ice pops and popsicles, therefrom.

The first mold assembly (12) is attached removably to the second mold assembly (14) such that a liquid-tight seal is formed between the molds (32, 74). When the first mold assembly (12) and the second mold assembly (14) are attached to one another, the cavities (40, 82) of the molds form a molding cavity (98). When the first mold assembly (12) and the second mold assembly (14) are detached from one another, each of the receptacles (34, 76) is moveable from a first molding position, in which the receptacle (34, 76) is positioned within the respective aperture (24, 66) of the base (16, 58), and a second inverted position, in which at least a portion of the receptacle (34, 76) of extends outwardly from the aperture (24, 66).
