A hopper receives material which is to be pulverised, the hopper having an open lower end which communicates with the pipe. Between the hopper and the fan there is a venturi. 摘要： A desalination plant is disclosed which includes a pump for pumping water at a pressure of between 50 and 65 Bar to a generally cylindrical filter element which includes a plurality of reverse osmosis membranes defining salt passages. Immediately upstream of the filter element there is a disc with a plurality of holes in it. The disc forms an obstruction which causes a pressure drop between the upstream side thereof and the downstream side. It also divides the water flow into a series of separate streams which impinge on the end of the filter element and flow into the salt passages. The water downstream of the obstruction is not only at a lower pressure than the water upstream of the obstruction but also is flowing turbulently. The disc and filter element are in a cylindrical casing. The brine which emerges from the filter element, and which is still at a substantial pressure, can be fed through a device such as a Pelton wheel to recover some of the residual energy therefrom.

摘要： In a reverse osmosis desalination plant a number of membranes are arranged end- to-end in a cylindrical outer casing. Each membrane comprises a sleeve, a permeate pipe passing centrally through the sleeve, a plurality of leaves of permeable material wound around the pipe and contained within the sleeve and flow distributor plate (10) at each end of the sleeve. The flow distributor plate at the inlet end of each membrane has a plurality of bores (30.1, 30.2 etc) through it from a front face (12) to a rear face. The front face has a recessed area (20) which is set back from the remainder (22) of the front face. The entrances to at least some of the bores are within the recessed area.

摘要： A venturi (18) receives incoming material through an inlet tube (12) and subjects the material to pulverization. The material, as it undergoes pulverization, is further subject to moisture extraction and drying. An airflow generator (32), coupled to the venturi (18), generates a high speed airflow to pull the material through the venturi and into an inlet aperture in the airflow generator. The airflow generator directs the received pulverized material to an outlet where the material may be subsequently separated from the air. An acoustic emission sensor (702) receives the resonant frequencies generated by material passing through the airflow generator. The resonant frequencies reflect a material flow rate that is adjusted to avoid an overload situation.
