    • A technique is provided which improves durability in a power tool having a torque transmission device. The representative power tool has a torque transmission device 151. The torque transmission device 151 includes a projection 171 formed on one of opposed surfaces of a first rotating member 153 and a second rotating member 155 and protruding in a direction of a rotational axis, a recess 161 for receiving the projection 171, which is formed in the other of the opposed surfaces and recessed in the direction of the rotational axis, a projection-side engagement surface 175a formed on the projection 171, and a recess-side engagement surface 165a formed on the recess 171. Torque is transmitted when the projection-side and recess-side engagement surfaces 175a, 165a are engaged with each other, while the torque transmission is interrupted when the projection-side and recess-side engagement surfaces 175a, 165a are disengaged from each other. The projection-side and recess-side engagement surfaces 175a, 165a are inclined at a predetermined angle β with respect to normals P of the first and second rotating members 153, 155.

    • The invention is to provide a hammer drill which is to be capable of restricting rotation of a bit in a hammer mode, and improve usability.A hammer drill includes a lock plate 51 in a housing 2, and the lock plate 51 engages with a second gear 31 so as to lock rotation of the second gear. The lock plate 51 is provided to be slidable between an engaging position with the second gear 31 and a non-engaging position, and is biased to the engaging position by a coil spring. The hammer drill further includes a restriction part 50 on an outer peripheral side of a holding tube 46 in a mode switching knob 44. The restriction part 50 abuts the lock plate 51 in one of two phases for engaging a clutch 37 with only a boss sleeve 32 so as to hold the lock plate 51 at the non-engaging position, and cancels the abutment with the lock plate 51 in the other phase to slide the lock plate 51 to the engaging position. In a hammer mode, a user can select a state for making rotation of a tool holder 3 free in one phase or a state for restricting the rotation of the tool holder 3 in the other phase.

    • It is an object of the invention to provide a technique for further improving the vibration reducing performance in a power impact tool that linearly drives a tool bit by using a swinging mechanism. According to the invention, a representative power impact tool is provided with a motor, a rotating shaft, a swinging member, a tool driving mechanism and a counter weight. The swinging member is supported by the rotating shaft to swing in the axial direction of the rotating shaft by rotation of the rotating shaft. The counter weight is disposed in a region higher than a lower end region of the swinging member in the vertical direction to intersect with the axis of the rotating shaft, and a lower end of the counter weight is connected to the lower end region of the swinging member. The counter weight extends upward from the connection between the counter weight and the swinging member and has a pivot point in the extending end portion, and when the swinging member swings, the counter weight is driven by the swinging member to rotate in the axial direction of the tool bit, thereby reducing vibration caused in the axial direction of the tool bit.
