    • Embodiments provide a stand-alone or self-contained gravity-fed emergency shower including a shower head. A water-tight reservoir is provided, the reservoir including an outlet in fluid communication with a shower head, and an air inlet pipe. The air inlet pipe includes an interior end and an exterior end, the interior end extending into the reservoir to a point below the fill level and above the outlet. The air inlet pipe allows air to enter the reservoir as water drains through the outlet, maintaining a substantially constant head pressure at the outlet, thereby resulting in a substantially constant flow rate of water to the shower head.

    • The water detection sensor includes a retrofit system such as a water-proof housing that selectively attaches to an exterior of a water conduit coupled at or near a dispense outlet of an emergency safety shower or emergency eyewash unit. The sensor may include a pair of guidewires that extend through the body of the water conduit and have a pair of respective electrodes that reside therein in non-conductive relation during an "off or "no flow" condition. In an "on" or "flow" condition, the electrodes become immersed in water and can conduct electricity therebetween by way of the electrically conductive water medium. As such, a water conductivity circuit coupled thereto and disposed within the water-proof housing may relay a signal to a controller, which activates an audible or visual alarm that water is flowing through the emergency safety shower and/or the emergency eyewash unit.

    • An improved hydration station comprises a wall mounted unit including a stationary lower body panel coupled to a drain, and a hinged upper body panel carrying a nozzle subassembly for dispensing water into a recess alcove defined cooperatively by the lower and upper body panels in response to user-insertion of a water-receiving receptacle into the alcove. The preferred wall unit includes a non-contact sensor for controlling water dispensing flow, and a preferred nozzle assembly includes at least one component having an antimicrobial additive. A preferred control timer automatically dispenses water in the event that the sensor does not detect a user-inserted receptable within a predetermined time interval, such as 24 hours. In addition, in a preferred form, lights on the unit are energized at one level during water dispensing, and at a second level when water is not being dispensed.

    • An emergency eyewash unit includes a pair of water discharge ports oriented to produce a pair of upwardly directed, diverging water streams for inside-out flush flow of contaminants from a person's eyes. These eyewash streams can be combined with a plurality of smaller upwardly directed facewash streams for flushing contaminants from a person's face. The eyewash and/or facewash streams are produced by an eyewash body adapted for rotatable mounting onto a water supply conduit, with a locking clip normally preventing undesired rotational disassembly. The eyewash body may be used in combination with an overhead emergency shower which, in one preferred form, includes a shower spray head carrying multiple flow control and flow shaper elements to produce a substantially uniformly dispersed shower spray pattern.
