    • A container strip in the form of a chain of interconnected preopened bags with openings having longitudinal dimensions of at least about 1/32 inch is disclosed. The container strip provides greatly enhanced facility for bag registration and opening during packaging operations utilizing the improved container strip. A process of forming a chain of pre-opened bags is also disclosed. Face and back plastic webs are independently fed along individual paths of travel to a common path. The webs are differentially tensioned while in their independent paths by stretching the face web more than the back web such that the face web will retract longitudinally more than the back web upon release of the web tension. While so tensioned edge seals are formed between the webs to convert the webs into a tube and longitudinally spaced transverse seals are formed between the webs to delineate bottoms of bags. Transverse lines of weakness are formed in said back web to facilitate separation of bags from the remainder of the web during a subsequent use. Tension in individual bag sections of the face web is released by forming longitudinally spaced transverse separations of the sections and thereby producing a space between each contiguous pair of sections.

    • A method of making flexible and collapsible bulk bags or liners for bulk bags or containers from individual flat panels of material, or tubes of material folded flat, is disclosed. The bags or liners have one or more sidewalls interconnected by at least a bottom wall and preferably also a top wall generally opposed to the bottom wall. The bags are preferably formed by disposing a pair of inner blanks of material with one on top of the other and then heat sealing along a straight line generally bisecting the blanks and thereafter severing the heat seal along its entire length. Next, a pair of outer blanks of material are disposed adjacent the inner blanks with the inner blanks received between the outer blanks. The outer blanks are each heat sealed about their side edges to an adjacent side edge of an inner blank. Once so formed, the inner blanks form a pair of gusseted panels received between the outer and overlying panels. When expanded, this configuration provides four generally rectilinear sidewalls of the bulk bag. To form the bottom wall of the bulk bag, the outer blanks are heat sealed to the adjacent gusseted, inner blanks along canted lines forming a triangular portion integral with each sidewall. When heat sealed in this manner, a generally rectangular bottom wall, integral with the sidewalls, is formed. A top wall may be formed in a similar manner or separately attached to the bag.

    • A carrier-bag for plate-shaped articles which a rectangular containing part made of a film folded in a W shape and having a structure in which each pair of an outer film and an inner film of the W-shaped film is separately heat sealed together at both side edges of the containing part, and a pair of holding parts formed by upward extension of the outer films of the W-shaped film and having finger holes; and a process for producing the carrier-bag which comprises forming a belt-shaped film having W-shaped gazette foldings at both side edges from a long tubular plastic film, inserting a heat insulating receiving plate into the central part of each W-shaped gazette folding of the belt-shaped film and pushing heat sealing blades to the receiving plate from both sides to separately heat seal each pair of an outer film and an inner film of the W-shaped film together, cutting the belt-shaped film to produce pieces having a length corresponding to the width of a carrier-bag, cutting the obtained pieces along the center line in the longitudinal direction, and punching finger holes in the holding parts.The carrier-bag for plate-shaped articles made of a plastic film has a simple structure, is easily handled, can be produced economically in accordance with a simple process, and contains plate-shaped articles horizontally.
