摘要： A vented pouch arrangement is described which comprises: first and second opposed panel sections; a base gusset member; and, a gas filter arrangement oriented in one of the panel sections. The gusset member is preferably oriented between the panel sections; along ends thereof, to form a base by which the arrangement can be stood up during use. Preferably, the arrangement is provided with a rib and trough closure arrangement extending thereacross. In this manner, opening and reclosing the bag construction, for access to material therein, is facilitated. A method for formation of such a pouch arrangement, and methods of use, are also described.

摘要： A container strip in the form of a chain of interconnected preopened bags with openings having longitudinal dimensions of at least about 1/32 inch is disclosed. The container strip provides greatly enhanced facility for bag registration and opening during packaging operations utilizing the improved container strip. A process of forming a chain of pre-opened bags is also disclosed. Face and back plastic webs are independently fed along individual paths of travel to a common path. The webs are differentially tensioned while in their independent paths by stretching the face web more than the back web such that the face web will retract longitudinally more than the back web upon release of the web tension. While so tensioned edge seals are formed between the webs to convert the webs into a tube and longitudinally spaced transverse seals are formed between the webs to delineate bottoms of bags. Transverse lines of weakness are formed in said back web to facilitate separation of bags from the remainder of the web during a subsequent use. Tension in individual bag sections of the face web is released by forming longitudinally spaced transverse separations of the sections and thereby producing a space between each contiguous pair of sections.

摘要： A method and apparatus for high speed pouch or bag making from thin, heat-sensitive thermoplastic film webs or multiply webs of paper, film and foil in which the seal pattern may be simple or complex sealing and in which the method is applied to a continuously moving web and sealing is achieved at temperatures below the softening temperatures of the film or the sealing interfaces. A method of forming an open pouch comprising the steps of continuously driving an elongated web of pouch forming material at a constant speed along a pouch making path which extends continuously through a web coating station, a web collating station, an E.B. curing station and a web cutting station. A pattern of a coating is applied to a first surface of a first continuous web of pouch forming material as it is driven continuously through the web coating station to render the interface bondable at a seal line and non-bondable in the area of the storage compartment when subjected to electron beam radiation. A second web is directed into a face-to-face relationship with the first web in the collating station and the collated webs are driven through the E.B. curing station and irradiated with E.B. radiation to bond the bondable areas of the web at the interface while leaving the non-bondable areas free from securement and the pouches are cut from the webs by severing along transverse cut lines.

摘要： A method of making flexible and collapsible bulk bags or liners for bulk bags or containers from individual flat panels of material, or tubes of material folded flat, is disclosed. The bags or liners have one or more sidewalls interconnected by at least a bottom wall and preferably also a top wall generally opposed to the bottom wall. The bags are preferably formed by disposing a pair of inner blanks of material with one on top of the other and then heat sealing along a straight line generally bisecting the blanks and thereafter severing the heat seal along its entire length. Next, a pair of outer blanks of material are disposed adjacent the inner blanks with the inner blanks received between the outer blanks. The outer blanks are each heat sealed about their side edges to an adjacent side edge of an inner blank. Once so formed, the inner blanks form a pair of gusseted panels received between the outer and overlying panels. When expanded, this configuration provides four generally rectilinear sidewalls of the bulk bag. To form the bottom wall of the bulk bag, the outer blanks are heat sealed to the adjacent gusseted, inner blanks along canted lines forming a triangular portion integral with each sidewall. When heat sealed in this manner, a generally rectangular bottom wall, integral with the sidewalls, is formed. A top wall may be formed in a similar manner or separately attached to the bag.

摘要： An apparatus and method for forming a fold construction in a triple wall corrugated paper board comprises a pair of spaced a part main frame plates having four support plates connected therebetween in a direction which is transverse to a feed direction for the paper board. A pair of shaft carrier plates which have linear bearings thereon, are mounted for sliding movement to the support shafts between the frame plates. Spreader tubes are engaged around the support shafts for maintaining a selected and accurate distance between the carrier plates. Upper and lower shafts are rotatably mounted between the carrier plates and carry knives, scoring members or other fold forming elements for scoring or cutting the paper board to form segments of the fold construction. A table is fixed between the carrier plates that cooperates with a hold down roller which is rotatably mounted between the plates, to hold the paper board down and prevent curling or warping as the fold construction is formed.
