    • A flexible coupling for flexibly joining two shafts includes a unitary solid cylindrical body having a first end, a second end, and therebetween having one or more longitudinally spaced circular disks spaced by asymmetric slot pairs; a radially offset beam formed between a first slot and a second slot of each asymmetric slot pair, such that the radially offset beam is parallel to a diameter of the cylindrical body and is offset from the parallel diameter by a radial beam offset distance R1; each beam being rotationally offset from longitudinally adjacent beams; and hub means at the first end for coaxially connecting the first end to a first one of the two shafts, and hub means at the second end for coaxially connecting the second end to a second one of the two shafts.

    • The invention concerns a shaft coupling, in particular a resilient compensating coupling, with a resilient transmission component (3) which is connected to the output and input members which are designed for connection to the input and output lines. The shaft coupling comprises a resilient transmission component (3) which lies in one plane and has two outer webs (4) which merge approximately at right-angles into transverse webs (5). The transmission component (3) also has a central web (6) which connects the transverse webs (5) and extends parallel or at an angle to the outer webs (4). Each of the outer webs (4) comprises at one end a joint for connection to the input member (1) and to the output member (2), such that the input and output members (1, 2) are connected via the transmission component (3) in the manner of a universal joint. The webs (4, 6) and transverse webs (5) have different degrees of resilience. The invention further concerns the use of the coupling in machines for connecting engines and gear units and for connecting engines or gear units to shafts and the like.
