    • A volumetric multi-layer screen including a plurality of electrically switchable layers that are stacked and coextensive, each of the plurality of electrically switchable layers including: a first transparent dielectric substrate having a first side and a second side; a first transparent electrode coated on the first side of the first transparent substrate; and an electrically switchable polymer dispersed liquid-crystal film coated on the first transparent electrode. The electrically switchable polymer dispersed liquid-crystal film includes a) a host polymer having an index of refraction and b) a nematic liquid crystal having i) an ordinary index of refraction that substantially matches the index of refraction of the host polymer when an electric field is applied across the electrically switchable polymer dispersed liquid-crystal film from the first transparent electrode, and ii) an extraordinary index of refraction that causes visible light to be scattered at a host polymer/nematic liquid crystal interface when the electric field is not applied across the electrically switchable polymer dispersed liquid-crystal film by the first transparent electrode.

    • An image processing device including means for: inputting two parallax images composed of images of first and second viewpoint directions; generating first and second smoothed images by applying, respectively to the images of the first and second viewpoint directions, a smoothing filter in a direction joining the first and second viewpoints; generating a reference image formed by a value based on a product of values of the first and second smoothed images; generating gain distribution data by dividing a value of the reference image by the value of the first smoothed image; performing gain correction of each pixel on the image of the first viewpoint direction, based on the gain distribution data; and outputting the gain corrected image of the first viewpoint direction as a parallax image, the smoothing filter having a filter diameter approximately equal to a parallax amount between the images of the first and second viewpoint directions.

    • In an image pickup system for use in a craft (11) flying over an object zone which moves independently relative to the craft, first and second electric signals represent first and second partial zones when the craft is at first and second locations at a first time instant and at a second time instant which is later than the first time instant. The first and the second partial zones are a forward partial zone Pf viewed by a first camera unit (13) and a backward partial zone Pb viewed by a second camera unit (14). Due to movement of the object zone, the first and the second partial zones are different by a difference zone. Supplied with first and second location signals produced by a location signal producing unit (15) represent the first and the second locations, a correcting signal producing unit (16) produces an overall correcting signal representative of the difference zone. By the overall correcting signal, a processing unit (17) processes the first and the second electric signals into first and second image signals for use in producing a stereo image of the object zone. An equivalent of the location signal producing unit may be located in a terrestrial station (20).
