摘要： A process for preparing graphite articles is presented. In particular, the process includes employing a particulate fraction comprising at least about 35 weight percent coke, coal or combinations thereof having a diameter such that a major fraction of it passes through a 0.25 mm to 25 mm mesh screen. The particulate fraction is mixed with a liquid or solid pitch binder, to form a stock blend; the stock blend is extruded to form a green stock; the green stock is baked to form a carbonized stock; and the carbonized stock is graphitized. The stock blend further comprises one or both of carbon fibers (advantageously added after mixing of the particulate fraction and pitch has begun) and small particle size filler (advantageously added as part of the particulate fraction).

摘要： A fastener strap dispenser (10, 200, 300) has a housing (11, 202) defining a receptacle (12, 204) and an outlet (32, 227), a length of fastener tape (14, 206) disposed within the receptacle and arranged to be dispensed through the outlet, and a detent (40, 246). The tape has a strip-form base (82) having two broad, opposite surfaces (81, 83), with an array of fastener elements extending from one of the surfaces (82). The base defines tear regions (50) of reduced tear strength formed at spaced intervals along the length, the spaced intervals define individual fastener straps and each fastener strap defines an associated, engageable formation (52, 52'). The detent engages the formation of a trailing strap as a leading strap is pulled through the outlet, acting to resist movement of the trailing strap so that the leading strap parts from the trailing strap at a tear region when a sufficient parting tension is applied to the leading strap.

The cardboard core (10) may be a planar stiff paper core. The invention is also directed to a structural member for use in making inexpensive furniture comprising a supporting member (11) and a cardboard core (10) laminated to a face liner laminate (12). The film ply of the laminate (12) enhances the strength of the container or structural member and imparts water resistance thereto. Because the exposed surface of the film ply is printable, it may have decorative graphics or other printed matter applied thereto.

The article (1) is coated with a system which provides protection against oxidation and corrosion and which significantly reduces the substrate temperature. An MCrAlY layer (2) is applied to the article to be protected and a columnar grain ceramic (5) is applied by vapor deposition to the MCrAlY coated article. An alumina layer (4) which exists between the MCrAlY layer (2) and the columnar ceramic layer (5) provides for the adherence of the columnar layer to the MCrAlY layer. An important feature of the invention is that the interface (3) between the MCrAlY layer and the alumina layer has a low surface roughness and this greatly improves the columnar ceramic layer adherence.
