    • Dehydration process is intended for sludges, partic. those from the purificn. of waste water and sewage, it comprises three independent phases. The raw sludge is treated with a flocculating agent in a conical mixer and enters the first phase at the inlet, this preliminary dehydration is effected in a rotary pocket filter which operates without press. The sludge arrives on the outside of the filtering belt (I) where it may be subjected to vibrations to produce a supplementary preliminary dehydration, still without press. A wedge-shaped compartment follows after a roller, it is delimited at the top by a second filter belt (II) and at the base by the belt (I). The belts are made from a fine mesh metallic gauze and belt (II), after passage through the cleaner, is diverted by the sprung roller, the two belts together squeeze the sludge that had originally been deposited on belt (I). The filter belts then pass round the periphery of the drum meeting pairs of press. rollers with adjustable springs during their passage to the roller where they reverse their direction to meet other press. rolls to be further compressed, this is virtually the end of the second phase. The third high press, phase takes the form of a plate press, the sludge is transferred to this phase by a scrapind device and is charged into the plate press between tow filter belts. These carry it through the gap between the plates and the dehydrated sludge is finally evacuated into lorries by the scrapping device. The plant for the first time, takes the change in the state of aggregation of the sludge into account during the dehydration process.
