    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for working the surface of a metal material in order to form a shallow recess having a slope small in tilt angle and a controlled undercut, by forming an anodic oxide film on the surface of the metal material to be worked. SOLUTION: This surface-working method comprises steps of: preparing a metal material 12 which is formed on a substrate 11 and has the surface covered with a mask; and anodizing the metal material 12 in an electrolytic solution containing a sulfuric acid at an electrolysis voltage of 20 V or lower to form an anodic oxide film 15 having a slope 17 small in tilt angle on the surface of the metal material 12, which is exposed to the electrolytic solution through an aperture of the mask. The shallow recess having the slope 17 of the tilt angle θ1 is formed on the surface of the metal material 12 by removing the anodic oxide film 15 which has been formed on the surface of the metal material 12.
