    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable which enables easy identification of a plurality of optical units contained therein when taking out the optical units in the cable by tearing an outer jacket at a notch.SOLUTION: An optical fiber cable 1 comprises optical units 2 (2A, 2B, 2C), each including a plurality of optical fibers 5 wrapped with a film 4, which are covered by an outer jacket 3 having a rectangular cross-sectional shape. The outer jacket has tension members 12 collinearly arranged on both sides of the optical units, and release paper 13 for taking out the optical units provided above and below the optical units in parallel with a line on which the optical units and the tension members are aligned. Two notches 11 for tearing the outer jacket are provided on each of upper and lower surfaces corresponding to longer sides of the outer jacket, which are positioned such that no optical units are positioned on each line S1 connecting a pair of upper and lower notches. The structure is provided with identification means for identifying each of the plurality of optical units.

The device body 12 includes the reel 18 rotatably positioned in the storage case. The reel 18 includes a barrel 26 on which the linear material 11 is wound, and a pair of flanges 28 provided at both axial sides of the barrel 26. The storage case 14 includes a feed-out port 50 through which the linear material 11 is fed out, and a flap 52 swingingly provided at the feed-out port 50. The flap 52 is provided so that the orientation direction thereof is opposite to the rotating direction of the reel, also, the width in the reel axis direction is formed nearly equal to the width between the flange parts 28, and provided so that it may contact with the pair of flanges 28.
