The outer jacket has tension members 12 collinearly arranged on both sides of the optical units, and release paper 13 for taking out the optical units provided above and below the optical units in parallel with a line on which the optical units and the tension members are aligned. Two notches 11 for tearing the outer jacket are provided on each of upper and lower surfaces corresponding to longer sides of the outer jacket, which are positioned such that no optical units are positioned on each line S1 connecting a pair of upper and lower notches. The structure is provided with identification means for identifying each of the plurality of optical units.

Each of the binding members 3A and 3B has a double structure including a core part that is provided at a central part and formed of a high-melting-point material having a high melting point, and an outer jacket part that is provided to cover the core part and formed of a low-melting-point material having a melting point lower than that of the high-melting-point material. The two binding members 3A and 3B are spirally wound around the peripheral surface of a fiber bundle 2A formed by bundling the plurality of optical fibers 2, along the longitudinal direction with the mutual winding direction inverted. The binding members 3A and 3B are stuck to each other at an intersection T by adhesiveness that is developed by heating.
