    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely read the content of information, and to prevent the error or forgery of reading by allowing a light emission mark containing a single light emitting material which emits a light by an excitation light in an ultraviolet area and a near infrared area to emit a light by each excitation light, detecting a light emission, and reading information written in the emission mark. SOLUTION: An operation such as printing, coating, and attachment is performed by using a light emission ink or light emission sheet containing a single light emitting material which emits a light with an excitation light in an ultraviolet area and a near infrared area to a base material, and necessary information is added by a mark such as a bar code so that the light emitting carrier is obtained. The light emission is detected by radiating the light emission mark of the light emitting carrier with an excitation light in ultraviolet area. Then, light emission is detected by irradiating the same position with an excitation light in near infrared area. It is confirmed that each information detected by the two excitation lights is the same. Compounds indicated by the formula are desired as the light emission materials to be used. In the formula, each of R -R independently indicates hydrogen atom, etc.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce the subject compound and its tautomer suitable for use in a luminous layer of a fluorescent flaw detecting agent or an electroluminescent element by reacting a zinc complex having a specific structure in an aqueous solution of a mineral acid at a specified concentration. SOLUTION: (A) A zinc complex represented by formula I (Y to Y are each independently H, a halogen, nitro, cyano, hydroxyl, amino, an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxy or the like) is reacted in (B) a mineral acid at >=8 wt.% concentration (preferably hydrochloric acid at 8-35 wt.% concentration or sulfuric acid at 8-50 wt.% concentration) to afford (C) a quinoline compound represented by formula II (R to R are each independently H, a halogen, nitro, cyano, hydroxyl, amino, an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxy or the like) and its tautomer. For example, a zinc complex represented by formula III can be obtained by heating phthalimide with quinaldine, zinc chloride and N,N-dimethylaniline, further adding pyridine thereto and heating the resultant mixture as the component A.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element with high luminance, good luminescent performance sustained for a long time and excellent durability by using specified indigo derivatives for a luminescent layer. SOLUTION: In a formula, R1 -R18 are independently hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, hydroxyl groups, mercaptal groups, cyano groups, amino groups, nitro groups, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl groups, substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy groups, substituted or unsubstituted alkylthio groups, substituted or unsubstituted N-monoalkylamino groups, substituted or unsubstituted N,N- dialkylamoino groups, substituted or unsubstituted aryl groups, substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy group, substituted or unsubstituted arylthio groups or substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic groups. Adjacent substitutional groups are coupled together to form substituted or unsubstituted aromatic cycles or substituted or unsubstituted heterocycles. Z1 and Z2 are indigo derivatives showing independently oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms or dicryanometylene groups.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-concn. vat dye with a bright color by reacting a dicarboxylic acid compd. with a haloiminium salt and then with a plurality of anthraquinone compds. SOLUTION: 1 mol of a dicarboxylic acid compd. of formula I (wherein R -R are each H, halogen, nitro, cyano, etc.; and m and n are each 0 or 1) and 0-3 mol of an org. nitrogen compd. (e.g. pyridine) are suspended or dissolved in an org. solvent (e.g. difluoromethane); 1-5 mol of a haloiminium salt of formula II (wherein R and R are each lower alkyl; X and X are each halogen; and l is 2 or 3) (e. g. 2-chloro-1,3-dimethylimidazolinium chloride) is added to the resultant suspension or soln., which is then subjected to reaction at 80-200 deg.C for a predetermined time; the reaction product is further reacted with 1.0-2.5 mol of anthraquinone compds. of formula III and IV (wherein R -R and R -R are each H, halogen, nitro, cyano, etc.) at 40-200 deg.C; and after the completion of the reaction, the resultant product is filtered, washed, and dried to give a vat dye of formula V.
