    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enabling the extension of life of an electric potential difference type deterioration sensor used in the deterioration diagnosis of an internal combustion engine by using the electric potential difference type deterioration sensor.
      SOLUTION: This method for extending the life of the electric potential type deterioration sensor is characterized by using a lubricating oil composition containing base oil consisting of mineral oil and/or synthetic oil, at least one kind of phosphorus-containing compound selected from a metal salt of hydrocarbyl phosphorous acid compound and a metal salt of hydrocarbyl phosphoric acid compound of 200 to 2,000 mass ppm based on phosphorus element and a metal-based cleaning agent as the lubricating oil of the internal combustion engine mounted with the electric potential difference type deterioration sensor.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition as a running-in operation lubricant for a recent high output, high efficiency low speed 2 cycle diesel internal combustion engine, capable of giving a running-in effect by suitably abrading without causing scuffing, and also having a high cleaning property and corrosion inhibiting effect to a copper-based material.
      SOLUTION: This lubricating oil composition is provided by containing base oil, (A) a metal-based cleaning agent having 30 to 350 mgKOH/g total base value, and (B) an abrasion inhibitor consisting of a hydrocarbyl phosphorus acid metal salt and/or a hydrocarbyl phosphoric acid metal salt, and having a 10 to 70 mgKOH/g total base value and a 12.5 to 26.1 mm
      2 /s dynamic viscosity at 100°C. Therefore, in the diesel internal combustion engine, the lubricating oil exhibits an excellent running-in effect and also obtains a good high temperature cleaning property and a good corrosion-preventing property to the copper-based material.
