    • PURPOSE:To uniformly distribute a particulate-restricting agent into each cylinder and reduce consumption of the agent, by a method wherein an ejector is provided for each of cylinders, and a particulate-restricting agent is supplied only when the engine is operated at a high rotation frequency and under a high load. CONSTITUTION:When the engine rotation frequency is high, a magnetic clutch for an air pump 19 is engaged, and the air pump 19 is maintained in the operating condition so that compressed air is fed into the ejector 11. Therefore, air is ejected through an air port 14, the particulate-restricting agent is caused to flow out through an ejecting port 15 therefor by a negative pressure generated at the port 15 by the jet of air, and is supplied into a combustion chamber 5. A flow control valve 39 increases the aperture area of a passage 36 as the load is increased. When the engine rotation frequency is low, the magnetic clutch for the air pump 19 is maintained in the disengaged condition, so that compressed air is not generated, and accordingly, the supply of the particulate-restricting agent is stopped.
