    • PURPOSE:To manufacture a multi-color transfer sheet for printing containing colors other than a standard color at low cost and rapidly by forming a standard color image using electrostatic recording technique and colors other than the standard color using discharge breakdown technique, based on an electrostatic recording sheet. CONSTITUTION:A transfer sheet for printing 1 of a standard color is prepared using color electrostatic recording technique with sublimable dye and a regist mark. Then the sheet 1 is transported with a recording medium 2 consisting of a sublimable solid ink layer, a light transmissible support and a metal evaporated layer attached closely to the transfer sheet 1. Then the metal evaporated layer of the recording medium 2 is broken down using a discharge breakdown recording head 4 based on data while alignment is being performed by reading a resist mark by a reader 3. Then, a pictorial pattern of any color other than a standard color is added on the transfer sheet for printing 1 which is already prepared in the standard color using discharge breakdown technique.

    • PURPOSE:To attach ink on the surface of a machine plate paper to a sufficient thickness of several tens microns by a method wherein a multiple-colored pattern is directly formed on the machine plate paper by means of thermal ink-jet method without using colored sheet and solid ink formed into a pencil-like shape. CONSTITUTION:In pattern forming process on a machine plate paper 2, a drum on which the machine plate paper 2 is mounted is turned by a driver, and on the other hand, a head 3 is reciprocated between the ends of the machine plate paper 2 while the distance between the machine plate paper 2 and the head 3 is kept constant. During this action, a piezo-element is driven by image control signals and ink is spouted from nozzles to attach the ink on the machine plate paper 2. Since the four nozzles respectively spout different color ink, a multiple- colored pattern is formed. Next, solvent is uniformly coated on the surface 'b' of a sheet of printing paper 4 by a dampening device 3, and then the surface of the printing paper 4 is pressed on the machine plate paper 2 by a press roller 7, so that the ink of the pattern on the surface of the machine plate paper is dissolved by the solvent and dye contained in the ink is transferred on the printing paper 4.
