    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical device which has a reflective member with a reduced size and improved durability and can be manufactured at reduced costs, and to provide a manufacturing method for the reflective member.SOLUTION: A scanning optical device includes: a deflector which deflects and sweeps a light beam from a light source in a main scanning direction; an incident optical system which guides the light beam from the light source to the deflector; an image forming optical system which forms an image from the light beam from the deflector on a scanning surface; and a reflective member which is located in an optical path of the light beam deflected and swept in the main scanning direction by the deflector to reflect a portion of the deflected and swept light beam. The reflective member has a reflective surface for reflecting the deflected and swept light beam, first end faces parallel to the main scanning direction, and second end faces perpendicular to the main scanning direction. The second end faces are more corrosion resistant than the first end faces.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation image conversion panel which can prevent a degradation in image quality such as point defects appearing on an image caused by a protrusion or a concave part formed by the same appearing on the surface of a phosphor layer, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the radiation image conversion panel which makes it possible to obtain images of such high definition. SOLUTION: The radiation image conversion panel is manufactured by forming the phosphor layer on a substrate by a gas phase lay-up method in a vacuum chamber. The panel and the method for manufacturing it are characterized in that the protrusion or the concave part formed by the same which appears on the surface of the phosphor layer has been processed to be repaired. Notably, it is preferable to give the repair processing before the first cleaning of the surface of the phosphor layer after the completion of vapor deposition (before a heat treatment process).
