摘要： A laminated film which comprises a pair of coextruded multilayer inflation film layers disposed symmetrically and joined by blocking, wherein the inner layers are joined by blocking are composed of a resin having a Vicat softening point of lower than 120.degree. C., and a method of manufacturing the above film which comprises extruding a coextruded multilayer inflation film from an extruder at a temperature of the molten resin forming the inner layer being higher than the Vicat softening point of the resin by more than 50.degree. C., and joining the inner layer of the inflation film by blocking. A laminated film laminated by blocking can stably be produced, and the laminated film is excellent in physical strength and bag rupture strength.

摘要： A magnetically detectable plastic, e.g., polyethylene, polyvinyl, etc., pipe for underground use comprises a hollow tubular plastic pipe having particles of magnetic material embedded in plastic and secured integrally with the wall of the pipe. The magnetic particles are of iron oxide or barium ferrite and of a size, shape, distribution and proportion such that the plastic pipe may be easily detected by magnetic detection apparatus on the surface when the plastic pipe is buried at a selected depth under the ground. The magnetic particles are uniformly distributed throughout the thickness and uniformly distributed around the entire circumference of the plastic pipe or the magnetic particles may be distributed in discrete portions of the plastic pipe, as for example, a uniform outer layer of the pipe or in stripes or strips extending along the pipe. The particles may be extruded with the plastic in forming the pipe, whether uniformly dispersed or in discrete regions or the pipe may be formed of plastic free of the magnetic particles and the magnetic particles provided in a separately applied strip which may be coextruded or fused or adhered to the wall of the pipe. The magnetic strips or magnetic portions of the plastic pipe may have selective areas or portions magnetized to encode information readable from the surface of the ground above the buried pipe or in inventorying pipe on the surface.

摘要： Oriented polyester film primer coated with a hydrolyzed aminosilane IS disclosed. The aminosilanes in the unhydrolyzed state have the formula:(R.sup.1).sub.a Si(R.sup.2).sub.b (R.sup.3).sub.cwherein R.sup.1 is a functional group with at least one primary amino group; R.sup.2 is a hydrolyzeable group such as a lower alkoxy group, an acetoxy group, or a halide; and R.sup.3 is a nonreactive, nonhydrolyzeable group such as a lower alkyl or a phenyl group; with (a) being greater than or equal to 1; (b) being greater than or equal to 1; (c) being greater than or equal to zero; and with a+b+c=4. The preferred silane is N-beta-(aminoethyl)-gamma-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane having the formula:H.sub.2 N(CH.sub.2).sub.2 NH(CH.sub.2).sub.3 Si(OCH.sub.3).sub.3.The hydrolyzed aminosilane is applied to the film as an aqueous solution at any suitable stage during manufacture of the film, i.e., before or during the stretching operation, or it may also be applied to the finished film. The resultant primed polyester film is found to exhibit excellent adhesion to other polymeric materials and can be readily laminated to other polymeric films.

In this continuous process the speeds of the first tube and of the continuous tube leaving the coating extrusion stage are equal. In the coating extrusion stage a negative pressure is maintained between the first tube and the coating to be applied.

摘要： An accumulator extrusion head assembly for producing a parison having at least one stripe extending longitudinally thereof comprises an extrusion head body member having an opening extending inwardly from a nozzle outlet end and a mandrel positioned in the body member to define a generally annular extrusion chamber terminating in an annular outlet nozzle. An annular ram is mounted in the extrusion chamber and has a forward end positioned for reciprocation toward and away from the outlet nozzle. A first supply extruder is connected to the body member through first passages for supplying a first extrusion material to the annular extrusion chamber. A second supply extruder is also connected to the body member through second passages for supplying a second extrusion material to the annular extrusion chamber. The second passages include a supply outlet in the forward end of the ram for providing a radially continuous stripe of the second extrusion material to the annular extrusion chamber and, a connecting passage for maintaining a flow connection between the second extruder and the supply outlet during reciprocation of the ram.

摘要： The present invention provides a novel coextrusion apparatus that includes a first flow channel of a greater width than a second flow channel, and an adjustable vane blade between the channels. By the use of interchangeable plates, this unique apparatus is able to prevent any selected layer or layers of a laminate from extending to the full laminate width. This highly advantageous result is obtained by the formation of an isolating edge that is an integral part of a layer or layers that extend the full laminate width. Also provided is process for forming a laminate having an isolating edge.
