    • An exemplary embodiment of the invention provides a side well for a metal melting furnace. The side well comprises an insulated body having a front wall adapted to form part of an insulated side wall of a metal melting furnace and a top, a cavity within the body including a single upright well having a cylindrical wall adjacent to a closed bottom of the cavity, an entrance to the cavity at the top of the insulated body, a metal inlet channel leading directly into the cavity from an inlet aperture in the front wall, and a metal outlet channel leading directly from the cavity to a metal outlet aperture in the front wall. The side well includes a rotatable impeller having a vertical rotatable shaft and at least one vaned section positioned at a lower end of the rotatable shaft; wherein the impeller extends into the cavity with the vaned section positioned in the well adjacent to the cylindrical wall.

    • To provide a cement burning apparatus and a method of method of drying high-water-content organic waste capable of drying organic waste with high water content precluding the possibility of explosion; not incurring decreased thermal efficiency of a cement kiln; and more efficiently drying organic waste with high water content. The cement burning apparatus 1 comprises a dryer 6, to which combustion gas is fed from an exhaust gas passage, which runs from an outlet duct of a calciner 4 to an outlet duct of a preheater 3 of a cement kiln 2, for drying high-water-content organic waste of which water content is 40 mass percent or more. As the dryer 6, a grinding-type flash dryer, which directly contacts the combustion gas G with the organic waste W and dries the organic waste W while grinding it, can be used. Since oxygen concentration in the combustion gas extracted from the range described above is low, there is no danger of explosion, and temperature thereof is 450 to 900° so that the organic waste may sufficiently be dried. The cement burning apparatus may further comprise the second exhaust gas passage 8 for returning gas exhausted from the dryer 6 to the above-mentioned range.

    • A towel and garment warmer comprising an elongated cabinet having sidewalls that define a warming chamber with an open upper end that is closed by a lid pivotally attached to a sidewall. The cabinet is configured to allow the articles to be warmed to hang in the warming chamber. Attached to the bottom surface of the lid is one or more hooks or other securing mechanisms configured to secure the articles in the warming chamber. A source of warm air is located at the lower end of the heating chamber to direct warm air upward so as to substantially evenly warm the articles. Air is discharged from the warming chamber through vents located in the lid. A cooling system has a source of cool air in communication with the warming chamber to allow the user to inject cool air so as to cool and freshen the articles therein.

A cover plate is suspended horizontally over the hot plate; the cover plate has a plurality of exhaust ports extending from the top to its bottom surfaces. The ports are radially and evenly disposed midway between the periphery and a centered port with a manifold mounted to the top of the cover plate. The manifold has tubular conduits connected underneath to each exhaust port. Each conduit has an adjustable damper disposed at its front opening for regulating the vapor being exhausted. The tubular conduits converge from each exhaust port towards a common enclosure with an exhaust pipe coupled to its top for exhausting vapor to an external recovery facility.
