摘要： An improved circular sliderule for use in many applications wherein it is desired to provide a sliderule having superimposed disc elements which may be freely rotated without disturbing the previous setting of the adjacent discs. The novel improved calculator comprises providing a separating spacer element to be positioned between each disc of the calculator and with each spacer element having formed thereon means for retaining the rotation of the spacer element whenever superimposed discs are rotated. The retaining means may comprise a series of protruding arms, one extending outward from each of the separating spacer elements, joined at their outer ends and locked to the base plate of the calculator which is not rotatable. Alternately the retaining means may comprise the spacer element having formed on an internal hole at least one protuberance which is designed for mating engagement with an engaging means in the form of an elongated slot formed in the central hub which is locked to the baseplate.

摘要： A sailboat racing calculator which is used on a sailboat in conjunction with a compass and a boat speed indicator. A compass dial marked with compass bearings is coaxially rotatably supported below a reference plate having a window for viewing the compass markings on the compass dial. A boat speed arm is pivotally mounted relative to the compass dial and reference plate. The compass dial and the boat speed arm are rotatable relative to one another and the reference plate. A speed read-out arm is mounted to slide perpendicularly to the vertical axis of the compass dial, reference plate, and boat speed arm to permit the sailor to utilize his compass readings and boat speed readings to determine optimum compass headings for sailing each leg of a racing course in the fastest time possible.

摘要： The calculator comprises a circular background disc having a logarithmic premium scale, and a foreground disc rotatable on the background disc and having a logarithmic amount of insurance scale adapted to cooperate with the premium scale. The background disc also has one or more concentric linear age scales observable through windows in the foreground disc. The foreground disc carries index lines cooperating with the age scales. Each age scale corresponds to a different plan of insurance. A sector shaped cursor is pivotally connected to the center of the background and foreground discs and is provided on its periphery with a period of time scale which cooperates with the premium scale to indicate the amount of premium required for selected time periods. For more complex combinations of types of insurance, which consist essentially of a first amount of one type of insurance and a second amount of another type, with their corresponding premiums, the background scale is provided with a family of nonradial age curves which are viewable through a window on the foreground disc. The window has a radial line calibrated in terms of percentage, to indicate the percentage of the total insurance which must be carried in one particular type of insurance. The cursor also has on its periphery a percentage scale which cooperates with the amount of insurance scale to show the value of the percentage read off the radial line.
