摘要： A system of navigation employing an emergency longitude slide ruler for stellar navigation is described. The emergency longitude slide ruler is equipped with several wheels having rulers with settings including of the longitude slide ruler of the present invention include year, date, hour, minutes, star angle measurement degree wheel, a longitude wheel, a circumpolar star field identifier wheel, star meridian transit angles wheel, and a time zone wheel. All wheels are of diminishing diameters and are laid on top of each other in descending circumference with minute gradations allowing each consecutive wheel to line up with its larger adjacent wheel according to proper settings to eventually indicate longitude. The system presents an efficient and expedient means by which an individual with very limited knowledge of navigation and celestial bodies can determine his or her location, including longitude.

Indicia that indicates incremental units of a second characteristic is disposed on the other one of the panel edge portion or the member peripheral portion. Indicia that indicates incremental units of a third characteristic is disposed on the member and is viewable through the window. Movement of the member to align first indicia units with second indicia units causes display of third indicia units via the window.

The method disclosed allows calculation of exposure time from known quantities: film type, source-to-film distance, steel thickness, radiation source type and strength.

The information carrier contains information, which is given a defined association by the appropriate positioning of the plate with respect to the cover layer. In order to be able to produce the information carrier in a more compact and simpler way, it is designed in accordance with the present invention in such a way that the plate (10) is embodied to have a circular disk shape, except for at least one cut off edge section, and can be viewed and manually moved through a cutout in at least one of the cover layers, and is formed out of a center layer arranged between the upper and the lower cover layer by cutting a separating slit in the shape of an arc of a circle. The slit is not continuously closed in itself, but terminates in a lateral narrow side of the center layer, and that the circular disk-shaped plate is bordered in the radial direction by the contour of the center layer, and is rotatably and captively received between the cover layers.

摘要： A computer for solving aerial navigational problems in which the effect of wind speed and direction must be taken into account, wherein calibrated drift marks are provided in association with the airspeed scale. When the computer is set to any given airspeed and the information relating to wind speed and direction is registered, the calibrated drift marks give an immediate reading of the corresponding drift angle. The computer comprises a number of superimposed concentric discs which are mutually rotatable and which bear scales and cursors by means of which the required information can be derived. The computer may include means for correcting for magnetic variation in compass headings, pressure-altitude/temperature in airspeeds, and may also include scales for performing time/distance calculations.
