    • Non-linear signal conditioning is provided by signal processing in at least 2 consecutive steps (10). In each step (10) an insertion source signal (41) is provided, which is treated non-linearly to fulfil certain restrictions in bandwidth and/or spectral mask. The insertion signal is combined with a main signal (21) using a reinsertion factor (k1-kn), as a correction of the main signal (21). The reinsertion factor of at least one step is larger than the reinsertion factor of a previous step. In particular embodiments, the reinsertion factor increases for each of the at least 2 steps. This principle can be applied to most non-linear signal processing, and for example in PAR reduction systems, dynamic drain bias PA systems, Doherty and Chireix PA systems and in Dynamic Gate Bias systems.

    • To generate a high-power modulated radio frequency signal SOUT from an input low or medium frequency information signal SIN, the information signal is pulse-shaped in a quantifier to form a digital signal SD having discrete signal values. The digital signal is processed in a switching unit comprising switches for each signal value, in radio frequency wave generators for each switch generating carrier waves of radio frequency, and in control circuits for each switch to control the opening and closing thereof. When a switch is closed, its associated generator is connected to the output line of the switching unit, and when it is opened, the generator is disconnected therefrom. In the switching unit, a switched radio frequency signal SSW carrying the information of the input signal is formed by opening and closing the switches when the digital signal adopts or does not adopt, respectively, the signal value associated with the respective switch. The switching is thus controlled by the signal values of the digital signal. The switched signal on the output line of the switching unit is filtered by a filter for achieving the high-power, modulated, radio frequency signal SOUT.

    • The invention relates to a composite amplifier (500) based on a main amplifier (510) and an auxiliary amplifier (520), and compensation for non-linear amplifier behavior by means of respective non-linear models (570, 575) of parasitic. In order to provide proper excitation of the non-linear models, a filter network (560) based on a linear model of the output network of the composite amplifier is provided. The linear filter network (550) basically determines ideal output node voltages, which are used as input to the respective non-linear models for generating appropriate compensation signals. The compensation signals are finally merged into the input signals of the respective sub-amplifiers (510, 520), thus effectively compensating for the effects of the non-linear parasitics.
